Tuesday, outside painting

I don't really like this one at all, but that's ok. The colours are too muddy, and I definitely overworked it. Still, it was nice to paint outside. I need to figure out a way to avoid overworking my paintings, when I don't have the space to work on multiple paintings at the same time

2nd Year Hunt Museum

I really enjoyed seeing the second years work, It was super cool.

Life Drawing

I tried to experiment more. I'll go more into detail on what I did

I used charcoal first to create the form of the figure. I used heavy brushstrokes, though I then experimented with adding water to change the consistency of the acrylic paint.

I used alot of water in this one, It's blended alot more smoothly into earchother.

I filled in the silhouette of the man first with green paint. (Similar to the technique I use for charcoal) then I used the paint stroke and veriaus tones to build up the figure. it felt almost sculptural.

I made a sketch first using a ballpoint pen before going in with paint. I like how you can still see the pen in the finished artwork.

I painted the sketch in green paint this time, then built up the brushstrokes that make up the flesh.

I tried a mix of the ballpoint pen and charcoal techniques, but I don't think it shows through as much as the others.

Lisa Brice

I love the use of blue in Lisa Brice's work. I really enjoy the use of brushstrokes and line in her art and how they come together to create form. As well as the use of transparent paper to create blush on diffrent layers.

prussian blue is one of my favourite colours to use, so it's cool to see someone else who alse connects with it.

I didn't really enjoy the pallet knife painting. I'm not really a fan of the amount of texture it produces.

I really like how my second painting turned out though.

I'm not 100% sure how I feel about these paintings. The last one is definatly my favourite though.

Paintings I did outside on monday :)

I love taking advantage of the weather when it's actually nice. The biggest struggle was definitely how quickly the acrylic paint kept drying outside.

I really enjoyed looking at all the animals. It was really cool to get a chance to see and draw animals I never would have otherwise.

I think my favourite was the giant lizard, though it's really hard to choose.

I've been adding more colour and focusing on the background details first.

I started to translate those sketches into paintings. I'm using a diffrent base colour with the last one, I want to see how that effects the finished painting.

I'm getting less nervous about drawing in public, so thats good :)
