Hello all, Wow! What a wonderful weekend we had for the Alternative Fictions Festival at the Angelika. Such great films and filmmakers, we had a great panel, just starting to process all this, so sorry it’s late. But of course, we being who we are, we keep going. So, this week I will be doing a talk at the Dallas Museum of Art on Thursday night about their Experimental Film and Video Series, Truth at 24 Frames a Second. This will be at 7 PM in the Horchow Auditorium. I’ll talk and show a few clips I really like, so come on by. I will be writing about this for Theater Jones, so keep an eye out for that. Also on Thursday night, we have our episode of Frame of Mind with work from Baylor University at 10 PM. Next Thursday’s Frame of Mind is really special. I was given all the TV news footage from WFAA from 1960 to 1976 And also, next Wednesday we have the next horror film in the Chris Vognar Screening Room series, Don’t Look Now. What else is happening? Well, this week there are not one, but two festivals happening. The Lone Star Film Festival in Fort Worth has some really great films to check out, and lots of Bill Paxton. Also, if you missed Waking David at VideoFest, it is playing there as well. And the Second Annual Sheed Persian Film Festival will be at the Angelika with 12 Persian Films and a tribute to Abbas Kiarostami! The First Tuesday Festival is showing Seeing Through the Wall. The Texas Theater has Mansfield 66/67, which I have been hearing great things about, on Friday and Saturday nights. Tarkofksy’s, The Sacrifice (true cine files always come out for Tarkofsky) on Saturday and Sunday and the Alamo is showing The Shining at 7:00 on Tuesday which is great on a big screen and Dealt a great documentary that has been playing around for a while will be here with the director and the subject of the film on Friday night Have a great week. See you at the DMA on Thursday, Bart Weiss Artistic Director Dallas VideoFest
