“TRUST ME” shows how an avalanche of biased news and misinformation is undermining trust in society. This drives fear, which promotes racism, political polarization, and mental health disorders. When fear goes up it erodes trust. When people don't trust each other, they don't help each other, and progress stalls. Sensational media take advantage of our survival instincts to earn more clicks and ad revenue with shocking headlines and we’re enabling them each time we share..“TRUST ME” uses compelling human stories, facts, and experts to show empirical realities and the right way to consume media.

Trust Me is presented in association with Community Conversations, a program of The Film Collaborative with support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Sarah Hancock Foundation. The very earliest moving pictures were short looping drawings: 19th-century “animated GIFs.” Today cartoons encompass a galaxy of styles and subjects, seen on theatre screens, television networks, and mobile streams. Though diverse, they share common DNA that anyone making cartoons must consider: Script and StoryArt Direction and DesignVoice ActingTraditional Animation Computer-based Animation Foley Sound Effects music in a series of short videos, historian Larry Groebe will look at how each of these elements contributes to the animated cartoon. Each segment finds a classic piece of animation to investigate, and features a filmmaker who helps us discover how one of these elements makes it special. Rebelling against her old world, panty-sniffing, suspicious Greek mother to assert her strong sexual drive, fighting the feeling she was “too ethnic” amid the Boston Brahmin at BU, and starting her own theatre company in New Jersey instead of waiting for the phone to ring, Olympia Dukakis models how to live life with blazing courage.

Throughout an engrossing story that seamlessly blends past and present, she opens her heart and exposes her truest self to the audience. The raw honesty with which Olympia leads us into the core of her self is what makes this film luminary. As fellow actors with whom she has shared the limelight Laura Linney, Diane Ladd, Whoopi Goldberg, and Austin Pendleton all testify, Olympia is “totally open and crazy”, which is what turns out to be the marker of her absolute sanity.
