The great work of Onésime

After a little visit to the archives, we discovered under a thick layer of dust, a patent drawing, handmade by Onésime Perroquet. Indeed, he is at the head of a hairpin factory that he inherited shortly before this drawing. This Riveroak model is a polished brass hairpin decorated with 2 jade pearls.

For some obscure reason, Armand loves this model and wants his friend to give him one, even though he doesn't have the hair for it!

We are working on the development of an authentic photographic image of this pin, hopefully the result will be worth it!

Did you say lilies?

You certainly know this symbol, don't you?

You've already seen it on many coats of arms and emblems. Its name? It is called the Lily Flower (Fleur de Lys in French).

This symbol has traveled through time from time immemorial. It can be found in the Byzantine Empire, in the Kingdom of the Franks, among the kings of France and on the flag of Quebec. 

However, it is not a lily that is represented!  Indeed, botanists agree to say that the flower represented, is actually a marsh iris (Iris pseudacorus), and not a lily ... 

Nevertheless, the lily remains a flower full of history, which will now be able to accompany ours ... stay tuned!

Going back to the beginning of the project, 8 years ago...

Today, since we are still considering how to release content and at what pace, I am going to stay simple and briefly talk about the very beginning of the project as it has been on going for a long time. :D 

About 8 years ago, the first and radically different version of Lilies Stained Red in the Night was written. Its name was Amour à Versailles (Love in Versailles).

This is why you might see the current project being sometimes refered to as AàV... :) It was originally a play centered around a love story taking place at the court of the French king Louis XIV, and was very much inspired by what the young writer read at the time.

A group of friends quickly agreed to get roped in on the project and togethere, we began planning the sewing and the filming and all the aspects around the project, along with agreeing with who was to play who (the original distribution the writer had planned actually changed a few times, and I might make a post much later about that, when a bit more will be released about the characters) and trying to find more people to play some roles. The actor for the Marquis de la Pêche du Comté, in particular, was very hard to find, and we must have asked almost every one we knew at the time, before remembering one particular friend who we had completely forgotten to ask, and who immediately went full on board ^V^ (props to him, that was real cool). 

In the end, we were very young, and our sewing skills were probably lacking a bit for our ambitious project. This, along with other events, led us to needing years and years to sew a few costumes which eventually kept us from achieving the original project sooner. HOWEVER! We never let the project go and although some of us might have forgotten a bit about it, we knew that we would end up filming or playing it someday.

2 years and a half ago, the writer reread Amour à Versailles and found it so naive and cheesy that she felt like the group just could not play this whole thing, and decided to completely rewrite it and change it into a webserie. With the full support from 3 friends involved in all the different aspects of the project, she wrote the new scenario. The original characters were kept and further developed and a few were added. 

Amour à Versailles became Lilies Stained Red in the Night or La Nuit, les Lys se Tachent de Rouge, a much more dramatic and at the same time, brighter and darker story, no longer centered on a romance but rather on a pretty different plot (that had been but teased in the first version) which I hope, you will find absorbing. It now takes place in an alternate Universe which gives us a bit more creative freedom.

Most people from the original team got back on board, a few more friends kindly agreed to join the project (<3) aaaaaand here we go! :D We are now more mature, independant and skilled (I hope X)) which will allow us, this time around, to get this cool *little* project done! ^V^

As we will share more about the project and our progress, you will see that, on the “costumes”/sewing side, in particular some costumes from Amour à Versailles sewn by our little hands a few years prior, have been or will be kept with a few alterations. But this is content for later posts ;).

Welcome to our "Lilies Stained Red in the Night" amateur webseries project🎭 (original title : "La Nuit, les Lys se Tachent de Rouge").

It is cool, it is dramatic! 😁 (And we are a group of old and new friends set on seeing this little project through! ;))

Through this blog, we want to keep record of our progress and present different aspects of our project with the end goal being to eventually release our Amateur webseries somewhere on the internet ^V^!
