LEOSAGI WEEK - Day Two - Stars
Usagi had heard men in his garrison under Lord Mifune speak fondly of their lovers that they had left behind to serve their Lord. Often, it was said that they could be content with the distance simply by knowing that they shared the same night sky.
The simple act of gazing at the stars and knowing that the one who had stolen their heart could be looking at the same twinkling light - the sense that they were not ever truly apart.
The same could not be said for him. The ronin lay on the damp and sweet smelling grass, looking at the lights above him, shining in the inky black and blue and what he knew was that he was quite alone. The man he loved was separated from him, not by miles or seas or mountains tall, but instead by the fabrics of reality, by the very stars themselves.
He shifted the reed he had been chewing on to the other side of his mouth and let out a soft sigh. The ronin wondered where Leonardo was now; if the shinobi might be thinking of him as well.
Perhaps the time would come that the two of them could live side by side. A day where they would not have to wonder. Where they could share the sky, the same sun sinking beneath the horizon as it paints the landscape in hues of pink, purple and gold. To fall asleep at one another's side.
Perhaps there would be a day that the stars served not as a reminder of the distance between them - but as an affirmation of how far they had come.
