entering venus
..it was purely tantric..
With dainty fingers, she holds my hand as we walk down the hall. It’s unevenly paved and basic with its brown color. The clicking of her heels bounce off the walls and into the air but the noise goes unnoticed—the air is already heavy with anticipation and expectation. Our shadows spread on the wall beside us, the moon casting its bright light. The evening feels ethereal.
Alone, behind the closed door of her apartment, our energies are concentrated. I know she feels it because the weight pressing against my chest promises to concave my lungs. She’s nonchalant in her actions as she releases her curled hair from its bun and unbuckles her sandals. Quietly, she disappears around a corner. A small light opens a moment later. I take my time following.
Her home is well furnished and earthy. I barely notice the swirls of brown and gold, but they’re fitting. Her walls are mostly bare, dotted with peculiar art pieces. Lust has wound around me a gold piece of twine, leading me to what will both destroy and rebirth me. Around the corner, I find a small kitchen. She is leaned against the granite counter, sipping a glass of wine. For the first time, I notice the bright fuchsia color on both her finger and toenails. It’s loud and attention grabbing. It’s all she’s continued to steal from me tonight.
“Wine?” She asks. Her voice sings to me.
I nod, crowding the space of the already tight room. She turns to retrieve another glass but I gently cover her hand, taking her flute away from her. She watches me closely as I finish the rest of her wine. We are so close that I can visibly see her breathing patterns change. I smile slowly, cupping her face. I watch how she expects a kiss to the lips. How her eyes close in preparation. I feel her shudder as she realizes I’ve delivered it behind her ear instead. The frequency of her buzzing body almost matches mine.
..in the dark of the night, she gave me pieces of herself..
Under inky waters, we are finally submerged.
Our limbs, once heavy with trepidation, are now frantic with desire. Mindless for touch. Arbitrary, yet right. Completely just.
Her manicured hands pull at the buttons of my shirt while I untangle the web of silk that still selfishly keeps her covered. I sigh into her lips as my hot skin finds its relief, no longer choked by clothing. I push closer into her as her hands span over me in curiosity. Big eyes look up at me with want, need.
A hedonistic fire burns behind dark brown pupils.
I fan it.
In silence, the silk disappears from her body. She watches me watch her—my eyes accept the perfectness of every curve and dip in her supple body. I glide my knuckle over the swell of her breast, smiling with every reaction her body grants me. Lifting her onto the counter, I plan to worship every part of her. Each of my palms occupy a thigh, drawing them apart as I tantalize her with licks and kisses. Her palms grapple and squeeze from my biceps to my waist, until she finds where she is home. Low cast eyes command my entire being as she squeezes and strokes me. I flex into her, lighting rods shooting within me.
I try to take my time…but I cannot.
..in some hypnotic will, I gave her all of me..
My chest heaves as I reach between her legs. That is when my knees truly feel compromised. She is wet and warm and I don’t know what I’d like to do first. Lewd images cloud my mind. The thought of my fingers gliding within her marry with the idea of her slowly descending upon my face. I can barely imagine the joining of our bodies. I constrict at the thought of it.
Suckling her neck, I run my fingertips along her swollen, lower lips. Her short sighs and light coos bring me to delirium. I don’t want to be brought back. She grips at the counter as I find what winds her up and tears her down. The better I do, the closer she clings.
“Bedroom..please,” she manages between sighs and fluttering eyes.
…
We fall into her sheets, a ball of hot sin. Legs tangled, arms clutching, and hands caressing. Laying beneath me I watch the minute ticks of her body. The irregularity of her ragged breaths. The shift of her hands against her satin sheets. The rubbing of the foot she sneakily wraps behind my thigh. The twitches make her human, make this real.
It motivates my desire to ruin her.
Within short minutes, I inflict hours of worship upon her body. I nibble where she finds pleasing and nip where it makes her jump until she is panting from barely anything but attacks from my mouth. I find my real destination when I descend upon her thighs.
A faint moan escapes her as I part her legs. The farther up I massage my palms, the warmer and softer she feels. The hottest gem lays right at the apex of her thighs, her core. It puckers at me with excitement, making its own sounds with every mindless shift of her body. I become fixated. Ravenous. Unstoppable.
The coo I draw from her seems not of this dimension as lick her swollen lips. I take my time finding the exact map to her body. Long licks followed by rapid laps cause her to take gulps of air. Suckling and nibbling draws animalistic cries and wild bucking. Special attention to her clit allows me to strum her entire being like a taut string – slowly increasing the vibration, little by little until she is warm honey in my waiting palms.
The light from the moon casts over her features in the most beautiful shadows. It’s as though her faces follow their own set of phases through the night. Sweet lips open in small o’s. Deep eyes feather and roll to and fro. Cheeks first upturned in sweet, filling delight – only to turn upside down in tumultuous, stake-driving pleasure.
The signs of her body tell me she’s close. The way she quivers against my lips awaken a demon within me. My lashings resort from tender afflictions to potent stings. Reminders that this is real. That I can destroy. That I will.
The sounds of her body bring forth the dirtiest words to my lips. I whisper them to her, watching them dance over her sweating skin. They thrash her head from side to side, they drive her nails to dig into my hair.
“Make me – please…make me cum,” she cries choppily, unsure of whether she should pull or push away my head.
Looking deep into her, I hold her body down at the waist. She is fixated by my eyes, I command her wordlessly. Twirling my tongue about her clit, I demand her. Her body ascends to Nirvana before she’s even aware. I lap at the stickiness flowing from her pussy slowly, massaging her inner thighs as she loses particles of her mind. I’ve brought her to delirium and refuse to let her rest.
The heat rising inside me is unexplainable as I watch her shudder in post orgasmic bliss. Streams of air leave her nostrils faintly, her nipples still engorged as her chest moves up and down. Her pleasure satisfies me to the point that this moment, alone, sates me.
She surprises me.
Depleted, she still manages to rise and topple me. Laying back in a sea of pillows, I watch her body tower before me. My eyes are stolen to full breasts, a soft stomach, and ample hips. She glows rose gold. Her beauty is not a thing I can describe but something I can only experience, appreciate in this moment.
With devilish eyes, she steals from me my control as she moves her hands up and down my sinewy thighs. Perhaps I gave it to her. On hands and knees, she looks both primal and submissive. Ready to give in to my every desire and consume me whole.
Soft palms move over my dick – my head lolls to the side instantly as my mouth parts in shallow breaths. It is now that I’m fully aware of the pent up pressure within me. I want to watch but my eyes are heavy with need. The feel of her lips on the head rushes me, leaving my mind light and airy. Dancing on lavender clouds and shooting stars.
Ready to be engulfed, I become impatient when no other sensation follows after. Eyes hazy, I raise my head in question only to feel the searing warmth of her sliding down unto me.
“Fuck,” I groan uncontrollably, need dripping from my tongue. My mouth rules itself, releasing strings of curses and blessings.
Her sex surrounds mine in a tight, warm, ribbed embrace as she bounces upon me. Her waist and spine contort as she winds up against me. She moves sickeningly slow, drawing me to and from the edge. I am obedient under her reign. Her chest collapses in moans and cries while I deteriorate under her spell.
I feel like my pants and shouts please her ears. I’ll sing forever.
My hands grapple at her softness. Her ass, her breasts, and her waist never long for anything as I give my attentive care. She gnaws on her bottom lip as I appreciate her with my hands. She yelps when I slap my palm against her bottom. Her rhythmic bounces stutter and shake as I tap my thumb against her exposed clit.
Now we both tumble out of control.
She leans in closer, steadying herself as she grasps my shoulders. In between her features twisted in pleasure, I see everything she needs. Grasping her waist, I sit up until we were situated near the edge of her bed. Her hands travel from my shoulders to the base of my neck. I match her bounces with thrusts until I can no longer tell which inhale is hers and which exhale is mine. We are cloaked in an abundance of longing, release, and pleasure.
In this stranger, I found home.
..we seeped from each other’s pores into the air, into the sheets, into her walls. Our mangled voices echoing, trapped to tell a lasting story..
blue light special
“Thank you,” I say softly as the bartender finishes my drink order.
My voice is easily drowned out by the music being played but I am pretty sure she can read lips. Her hand grazes my arm as I accept the cocktail from her. Under the ruby lights, her hazel eyes shine at me. She’s petite in stature with a crown of curly hair, the ends dyed a brilliant blue. She screams playful, teasing, and unpredictable at me all at once—without a single word. She winks at me before strolling towards the other end of her work station. Taking a gulp of the sweet concoction, I shake my head.
Not tonight.
A certain feel tugs at me as I lean against the glass counter, watching bodies turn and wind under colorful lights. It’s been pulling at me since earlier today. My last final was today and I figure I ought to be excited that I was done with the semester—and passing at that. But, as students chattered about holiday plans and destinations, the feeling began festering in the pit of my stomach.
It rolled about within me, causing me to deny plans with colleagues and ignore calls from my ‘special’ friend, Suzan. It spread through my limbs as I sat on the metro, swiping through memories in my camera roll. It only vibrated as I gazed at the smiles of my brothers and sisters, the sweet eyes of my mother, and the mischievous spirit of my friends.
By the time I’d reached my small flat, the feeling had made its way throughout my entire body. It caused me to play the heavily compiled zouk playlist from my laptop and miserably attempt to make callaloo the special way my mother only knows.
Still, nothing quelled it.
It took staring at my ceiling in deep thought, as the sun set, to consider going out. Maybe giving my evening to the debauchery of mixed drinks and thrill of flashing lights would wash away the incessant tingling. The ringing through my bones. The need.
The familiar music and dance style of this joint did seem to satisfy the tugging feel for a moment. I walked in feeling warm, excitement coursing beneath my skin. The short high wore off too soon. The authenticity was off. The faces were still foreign, the words still heavily colonial. I became annoyed, a dark cloud settling above my head. No amount of tackily named drinks could soothe my slight irritation. Staring amongst these people has only told me one thing.
None of this is home and I hate it.
I miss my pesky siblings. I miss my mother’s warm meals. I miss late night parties with my friends. I miss the live zouk performances. I miss the ocean. I miss breezy days and warm nights.
I crave something intangible, something that cannot be recreated.
Home.
My drink comes to an end faster than I want it to. I let out a short sigh, deciding immediately that I want another. I know I can take an Uber home so tonight inhibitions are nonexistent. I signal for the flirty bartender with a smile as I shake my empty glass. As she flounces over, a flash of brown blurs past my peripheral. It’s too rich to pass off. Too vibrant to ignore.
I glance to my right to find a group of young women giggling as they push towards the dense dancefloor. They all sing to me with their own special frequencies but one has the sweetest vibe I’ve felt yet.
She is smiling the widest as she clutches one of her friend’s hands. The way her bright red lip contrasts against her teeth is dazzling. My eyes dance from her charming features to her skin. A brown so deep that I’m instantly surrounded by warmth. Even under dim lighting, she glows. Glints of shimmer shine from her cheeks, to her shoulders, to her legs. Her endless legs. Her minimalist heels only extend them and I do not find myself complaining. Finally, my eyes land on satin chemise-esque dress she wears. The straps are thin and neck line high. It is black and loose fitting, stopping at her mid-thigh. It causes me to fantasize about the form underneath and what it’d look like without all that extra material floating around it.
She’s the first familiar entity I’ve run into all evening.
Just as she appears, she disappears among the other bodies. My first thought is to follow but a small tap draws my mind back to its prior reality. I turn towards the bar to find the bartender asking me if it’s the same drink I want again or would I like to try another. She rambles off some suggestive name and I shake my head curtly, raising my hand in decline. Before I can notice her surprised expression, I am already headed toward the dance floor.
As I slide between hot bodies, the music fades from its quick tempo of drums to a lulling strum of guitars and synthesizers. The DJ grumbles something into the mic but my mind doesn’t bother to pick it up.
I see glimpses her of dancing circles around her group of friends. One second it’s the sight of her eyes closed as she twirls about, then it’s a head of hair blocking my view. The next second, it’s a view of her back as she whines with another, then it’s an offbeat couple before me. Each obstacle heightens my desire to get closer.
I am right in front of her before I know it. Her friends notice me before she does. Their eyes are curious and bold, and with confidence, I accept their gazes. It’s only when she notices that her friends have stopped moving that she realizes my presence.
Her eyes are curious as well. Behind those dark brown irises is something so tantalizing I feel as though I can reach out and touch it. Roll it around gently in my palm. My actions do not know the words ‘hesitation’ or ‘caution’.
“May I have a dance?” I say, lifting my hand. Her lips part slowing into a sweet smile. I can feel my breathing accelerating.
“Yes,” she says, taking my hand without a thought.
Her heat combats with mine to create an inferno the moment we touch.
It all moves both fast and slow. I cannot recount how I was initially at the bar and then suddenly before her. But I can tell you we’ve danced for hours within one song. The feel of her in my arms feels innate. She follows my steps in sync as I follow hers. Our surroundings are a blurred mess as we move.
The lights of club fade to blue, causing a dangerous sight. Under the blue, the cool undertones of her skin come alive. The light tints her hair, glossing the tendrils framing her face. It swirls in her eyes, hypnotizing me.
It feels as though both of us are floating high on some type of fantastical aphrodisiac. She feels both firm and wispy beneath my palms. As complete strangers, we hold each other as though we’ve known love in another life. She feels like complete comfort. Her small hands span my back in slow torture, it both weakens and ignites me. The feel of her breath beside my neck drugs me.
My desire for her is almost other worldly.
Perhaps it is.
Our twirling comes a slow standstill, as my knee parts deeper between her sweet thighs. She welds herself to my thigh easily. The warmth, seeping from her through my pants—where she is rightfully seated, shoots a fiery light within me. It’s white and unmerciful. Our hips are used for mass destruction with each rotation. Every spin, dip, and thrust steals a breath from her. Steals a breath from me. Until we’re surrounded by a cloud of our pants of satisfaction. The intimacy fogs my mind and prickles my body. Erotic is too uncouth to describe this moment.
This is the living embodiment of sensuality.
Confidently, she presses her forehead to mine, her nails gently scraping along the back of my neck. Her eyes look directly into my soul as she brings her face closer to mine. She holds the sweetest countenance against all others. The dew on her skin is of nature, the disarray of her belongs to chaos.
I fall into her effortlessly.
I don’t know which one of us succumbs first but a spark flies as our lips touch. It lands on the ground, lighting an entire blaze around us. Her lips are soft. My words falls too short to explain properly. I squeeze onto her, reassuring the reality of it all. The grip excites her, causing her tongue to dip forward. I grant entry without a moment’s notice.
I let her consume me.
Flawed as humans, we pull apart for a deep breath. My eyes barely open. I see dancing lights. Swirls of holographic cyan and soft pink. They burst, dart, and ripple. I’ve elevated to another world and I don’t want to leave. Her eyes are half cast as well, a shy grin on her lips.
I’ve found home.
Time stands still as we both wonder what the other is thinking.
Our thoughts are clearly aligned as we melt away from the lounge and into the brisk evening air. Hearts thudding, blind feet leading the way.
Big Daddy (One shot) Part 1
I hit each beat hard, twisting my body and throwing my leg up in the air as i turn. Its hurts but the music makes it all better, i let it pull me higher and higher as i give my all. I glance at my brother and we both kill the choreo before jumping into another freestyle. As our time runs out i jump up onto the second part of the stage and pull my twin with me as the lights focus back on Monster. We sprint backstage to put on shirts and jackets and i catch a glimpse of tribal designs in the corner of my eye. I turn my head slightly and freeze when i realize who it is, making my brother bump into me and push me into a wall. Her eyes flick towards the commotion we just made, and they lock with mine immediately. She widens her eyes in annoyance, knowing I was wasting time staring at her when we should be getting ready, and waves for me to get a move on just as my brother yells in my ear. “Lau what the fuck you doing man!! We gotta get dressed!!” Snapping me out of my trance, i sprint to wardrobe and within seconds were both fully dressed and in position, just in time. Monster starts rapping her first verse in the flawless remix and my brother and i begin to make our way onto opposite sides of the stage. I let the music take control of my body and take my place on Monsters left side while Larry is on her right. “I got a surprise for yall.” She says with a wide smile and i stand up fully and smirk as the fans go crazy. Their screams get louder as our special guest walks onto the stage slowly, giving everyone a smoldering look. Daring anyone to challenge the fact that she too was a queen in the world of music. I made the mistake of looking at her for too long and she turned that gaze on me, and i felt my dick twitch in response. I quickly turn away, “Nicki Minaj, Ladies and Gentleman” Monster says with pride. She starts rapping effortlessly, and as i let her voice caress my body i catch myself sneaking quick glances at her. Her outfit hugging every single curve on her body, and the only thing left uncovered was her cleavage. But that didn't make her look any less sexy, the only thing left to the imagination was what her skin looked like under those tight clothes. How she managed to squeeze her huge ass into that outfit is beyond me and it looks like she struggled with her boobs as they were both spilling out. I could feel my mouth watering to taste them as i glanced at them again, and felt my dick hardening in my excitement. I began to freestyle, flying higher than i ever have knowing it was her voice i was dancing too. And watching her vibe with Monster and rap for her filled me with a huge sense of pride, how lucky am i to be on the stage with these powerful women. I slid over to my spot on the stage and had to almost force myself to keep dancing as she walked towards me seductively, since we were exiting together. She turned her gaze on me again and i danced for her, using the last little bit of energy i had to make it through to the end. Once she got to her spot, she turned to face the fans again and i had to bite my lip when her ass was inches away from my face when i hit the ground. I begin moving my arms around her as she rapped her last line and hopped up in sync with her last note, bringing my face close to her neck and inhaling deeply, hoping the noise of the crowd prevented her from catching me. She tilts her head slightly to glance at me with confusion, letting me know that my plan didn't work. I continue to breathe in deeply as i was out of breath and saw her features relax when she came to that conclusion as well. As the lift finally hits the ground she strides out quickly leaving me in the dust as i stumble out in search of Larry. I watch as he stumbles out as well and we both throw our arms around the other before falling onto the ground from pure exhaustion. (in your best spongebob narrator voice) a few hours later … Were in the club celebrating the success of the last show, and i can't seem to stray far from her. I think she noticed this, because she always makes sure to have something separating us. This time its a table covered in bottles, but i don't mind, I only want to see her. She looks amazing if not better than she did at the concert, in a fitted green crop top and green high waisted leggings. Even Larry couldn't stop staring at her when she first walked in. I make sure not to just blatantly stare at her but every couple of minutes i can't help but check on her again. Her moves are very slight but i can see she has rhythm and can move her hips very well, but her body is still very stiff. I wish she was more comfortable so i could see how she can really move, maybe i can help her. I throw all of my caution out the window and wave her over, smirking at her. She rolls her eyes hard and snorts before making her way the table to where i'm standing. She stops in front of me and looks up, crossing her arms over her chest with attitude. Her eyebrow arched in a silent question, and her face scrunched up in annoyance. I chuckle at her defensiveness and see her head cock back in surprise, her eyes wide. I bend at the waist and lean in, “Why you so stiff Nicki? I know you wanna dance.” I say into her ear. She snorts again, “What do you want Laurent? You've literally been following me around all night.” She yells at me over the music, getting straight to the point. I chuckle again and shrug, “Can you blame me? You look sexy in that outfit and seeing your face all scrunched up like that is cute.” I say, and give her a boyish smile. She looks me up and down with something resembling disgust, and with a roll of her eyes looks to her left. “I have a man Laurent.” She says quickly, but i catch the sadness in her voice and eyes. I tug her chin lightly so she is looking at me again and smile. “So? Who said i wanna sleep with you?” I question. “HA. You dont have to say shit. I can see it in your face and your pants.” She snaps. “You caught me.” I throw my hands up in defense and smirk. “Yeah i wanna have sex with you but i also wanna hang out with you. I can keep it in my pants, im a big boy.” I clasp my hands together under my chin and bat my eyelashes at her. Her lips twitch quickly, before she tightens them to prevent her smile. “You say that now, but i bet you just like all them other niggas.” She scoffs and struts off to another part of VIP. I stride after her and step in front of her, blocking her path. She blows out a hard breath and looks up at me, waiting. “You hurt my feelings Nicki.” I pout. “Thought you said you were a big boy?” She smirks. “Come back with us. We just hang out i promise. That way you not lonely.” I blurt. Her mouth drops open slightly and she stares at me in shock for a few seconds before snapping out of it. Her gaze flicks to someone behind me and i feel the presence of my twin, “Wassup bro. I just invite Nicki over. Is that cool?” I ask, still looking at Nicki. His twists brush against my neck as he nods, “Nicki you come over tonight? Please? We play FIFA and i might let you win.” He smiles widely and winks at her. She continues to stare at us in disbelief and slowly starts shaking her head, “You cant be serious.” I look at Larry in confusion and he shrugs, “Of course we serious. Our hotel has two beds, you take one bed and we take the other.” I say, my face still scrunched up in confusion. She pinches the bridge of her nose and take a deep breath before looking into my eyes again. “My man is waiting at the hotel and i don't think he would appre-” “You lying” Larry cuts in quickly. “I see it in you eyes Nicki. You here alone.” He arches his eyebrows at her, waiting for her to try and deny it. “Okay fine, he's not here. But why the fuck are you two all up in my business anyway?” She huffs. “I wanna be close to you Nicki, I tell you this already.” I roll my eyes in impatience, earning a glare from her. “Don't get fucking smacked Laurent.” She snaps. “Oooooo. Slap him, slap him right now. I watch.” Larry steps away and jumps up and down like a little kid. She smiles and shakes her head, making Larry pout. “Oh come on Nicki. Why you get my hopes up like that?” He groans. “Shutup Larry.” She giggles. “I dont want to get us thrown out.” With a shrug, she turns around to face the opposite direction and i have to grab onto Larrys arm to support myself. I have been blessed with a full view of her ass and i can't stop staring. “Lau, oh my god.” He gasps, staring with the same wide eyes I have on my own face. Her ass could probably swallow my dick, damn thats hot. I take a deep breath and close my eyes, “Nicki, please turn back around.” I groan. I smirk at the annoyed look im sure is on her face but keep squeezing my eyes shut. “Laurent why are your eyes closed?” Amusement laced throughout her voice. I open my eyes and glare at her, she knew exactly what the fuck she was doing. “Thats not fair. Why you do that?” I pout. “Because i felt like it.” She shrugs, giving me a smirk. “Ill come over tonight if you guys want me to.” Immediately Larry and i start nodding our heads like fools. “Yes. We want you to come. We keep you company.” Larry says, before wrapping his arms around her. She pushes him off of her and straightens her outfit before glaring at us both again, “But i'm only going so you two will stop following me around the club.” She explains. “I follow you anyway.” I say, nonchalantly. “I wanna see you dance Nicki. Like foreal dance.” I plead. She smiles at me before turning and walking towards the dance floor in VIP. I start to follow her but stop when she waves me off, and i resign myself to watching her from the sidelines. She makes sure i've got a clear view before she starts dancing, and my jaw drops. She rolls her hips effortlessly to the music and slowly slides her hands down her body, turning so her back is facing me. Her hands reach her knees and she bends over as she proceeds to twerk. Her ass bouncing perfectly to the beat, i am completely dumbfounded. She turns her gaze on me and smirks as i continue to watch her ass move in ways i didn't even know were possible. For the first time all night i am completely still and i know its because she has my full attention. later … I sit on the couch and watch my brother set up his xbox to the tv when i hear the door to the bedroom open. I turn my head and smile when i see her walk out in sweats and a tshirt, barefoot and no make up on. She is still beautiful, even without all of that crap she has to wear on her face. She plops down next to me onto the couch and sits indian style, “Feel better?” I ask. “Yesssss. Those outfits are like a form of torture.” She groans. “Really?” My surprise evident. She laughs, “Yes. Their too tight and i can't move sometimes.” She admits. I nod my understanding, she was able to move pretty well tonight though, i smile inwardly at the thought. “Okay!!” Larry says loudly. “Its all set up. Who wants to go first?” He asks with a smirk, knowing he can easily beat both of us. But to my surprise Nicki doesn't hesitate to snatch the other controller out of his hand and pat the spot next to her for him to sit. “I take it easy on you Nicki.” Larrys says, making her snort. “I dont think you wanna do that Larry, then you're gonna lose.” She says confidently. He laughs loudly and glances at her from the corner of his eye, “Yeah right.” She smiles at him, her expression cocky as they start to play. I watch Larry's eyes widen as he realizes how good Nicki actually is. She scores on him and pats him on the shoulder with a smile, “Its okay if you're not that good Larry, this will be a good practice for me.” He glares at her, but doesn't answer, both of them completely focused on the game. “HA!” She yells in triumph, and i laugh at the look of despair on my twins face. “Nicki where you learn to play so good?” I ask. “My brother loves this game and i had to practice to be able to play with him. I have my own xbox and everything, I play all the time.” She admits. “Neither of you will tell anyone.” Larry grumbles. “What?” I ask with a smile. “That you lost to a girl?” I throw my head back and laugh. “Lets watch a movie.” She says and exits out of the game and goes to netflix, picking out a movie without asking what we want to watch. I laugh and she pulls me into her and digs her long nails into my fro and scratches my scalp, my eyes flutter closed in pleasure. I feel her attempting to pull Larry into her as well so she can do the same for him but he gives her a little resistance. Still a little butthurt over his loss, but eventually he gives and blows out a hard breath as she scratches his scalp as well. She begins to ask us questions about anything and everything, and we both are happy to answer all of her questions while asking our own. Soon the movie is just background noise as we all get to know each other. We talked for about an hour before she got up to use the restroom, giving us both a sexy smile. When she walks away i quickly look at my brother with wide eyes, “Why she smile like that Larry?” I ask him in french. “I dont know man. Maybe because she more comfortable?” He shrugs. “Shes so cool, i never thought she would be this chill.” He admits. “Yeah me too man. Plus she so sexy, you don't find alot of girls like her.” I sigh. “True, not going to lie and say i would turn her down if she wanted some tonight.” He says, and i smile. “If i had my way, she would be calling me Daddy by the time we were finished.” I say, switching back to english. I hear the door swing open, “Oh really?” She says. We both flinch at the sound of her voice, she wasn't supposed to hear that. I turn my head towards her, ready to grovel and apologize but feel my jaw drop once i laid my eyes on her. She leaned against the doorway in a matching bra and thong and smiled sexily at me. I made a few strangled sounds as i tried to form a reply, but she put her finger to her lips to silence me. I glance at my brother and find him just as entranced as I am. “Why don't you both come over here and prove it?”
monster.
note: an random idea that popped in my head with all the recent IG shenanigans. enjoy.
The rain was pelting heavily against the window I was seated by.
I watched it idly.
Time was of the essence but his mere words had catapulted me into a timeless realm.
But in the real world, I was running out of time. I had so much to do yet I felt as though I had nothing to do. The piles of college textbooks and notepads mounting my desk didn’t mean a thing to me at the moment.
The fact of the matter was that he had sent me a text. And the measly text had set me off kilter. That motivation to study was long gone. The motivation to do anything was gone because of the erratic behavior of my heart. It was behaving in a way that was all too familiar. The familiarity of it did not make me comfortable at all.
It held a monstrous quality that terrified me beyond belief, making me want to hide from my own skin.
One could be familiar with a monster but also intensely afraid of it and I was afraid of the monster he’d made of my heart.
It pounded viciously against my ribcage. It pulsed with vigor, as though ticking the beats that would lead to a self-destructive explosion. It escalated the speed of my blood rushing through my veins.
It had become a monster because it was scared. When something is often harmed, it either recoils or retaliates to its attacker. Mine had recoiled for so long from being battered and bruised that all it could do now was be hateful to the creator of this torment.
Sighing, I subconsciously began scrutinizing the vague reflection in the window. With the torrential rains in session, the reflection was bleary but the saddened face staring back at me was easy to detect, not because of its visibility but moreso because one could feel the pain coming from it. The soft lamplight on the nearby desk highlighted my brown skin, high cheekbones and surprised brown eyes—all of which were features he used to gush over.
I was still in shock.
No he had not just texted me that he was coming to my place.
What gave him the right? Who did he think he was? Now that he found me, he thought that he could just come and take control of my life again?
Did he just pride himself in ruining other people’s lives?
Mine especially? But I wasn’t that important to him. He couldn’t even invest time into hating me. I was that irrelevant.
The thought sprung me into action.
I grabbed my phone from my desk and began punching buttons furiously, imagining each button of the phone a wound for him.
But Laurent didn’t have any wounds. Not him.
He was like a diamond from the rough that could never get hurt unless he met another preciously dangerous gemstone with as much worth as he. Or lack there of.
I was not as cold cut and hard yet, beautiful on the outside like he was. With me, what you saw was what you got. There were no false pretenses about me.
I was a regular girl at best. I didn’t stop traffic but I didn’t cause people to run away either. I was regular height, regular weight, regular everything.
But as far as Laurent went, the only thing regular about him was the fact that he breathed the same air that everyone did. At least I believed that. I was surprised most of the people around him still thought he was a mortal because they treated him like an omnipotent figure with all the worship they gave him.
While I was the epitome of regular, he was the epitome of spectacular and I had been a fool like many other girls to have fallen for his charm.
I’d tried with all my might initially but unfortunately since I wasn’t a diamond like he, I was not strong enough to fight him off or even better, break him so that he wouldn’t continue performing his heartbreak tour on unsuspecting, vulnerable women.
Even smart women had a hard time resisting him.
I’d always been called a smart girl, yet here I was, grappling at the last straws of my strength to try and fight him off over the phone.
It wasn’t until the phone started ringing that I realized I was holding my breath. I bit my lip apprehensively and hung up out of the fear that was flagging me.
Then I thought of him showing up at my doorstep and was even more terrified because of what could happen, so I called again. This time I was able to stave the fear off long enough for the voicemail to pop up.
That mutated my fear into full-fledged anger.
Typical.
This was so typical of him.
He was probably drunk when he’d texted me that he was coming over. I was probably some listless afterthought to him, one that was as important as one grain of salt in a sea of many. I was that inutile to him and he’d never had any qualms showing me that.
Tossing my phone away and drawing my parted windows closed, I berated myself for falling for his quirks by forgetting my studying and giving him the time of day.
I tried to prove that he meant absolutely nothing by focusing on my books but all the letters and words ran meaninglessly together. Deciding to call it a night and wake up early instead, I prepared myself for bed.
The only problem was that a bed didn’t seem like a regular bed anymore.
A bed suddenly became an intimate symbol of two lovers sharing a deeper version of love than most could only dream of having—at least that’s how I’d seen it at the time.
The thought was so bothersome that I scratched the side of my head, plopping down on the edge of the bed from thought-exhaustion.
It wasn’t this bed that we had shared. We weren’t wrapped in these sheets. These walls weren’t the culprits for barely concealing the sounds of our alleged love making.
But it was a bed and the bed made those thoughts flash through my mind like the rain made me think of that day he’d chased me into it when we’d been playing like little kids in the sunshower that drenched the city of Sarcelles that night.
Everything was now connected to Laurent in some shape of form that was tragic for my sanity.
I sighed for the millionth time before telling myself to stop being silly and forced myself to sleep.
But forcing yourself to do something was very hard when an oppressing force was pushing you in the other direction.
And he was the force.
And he forcefully made me think about him throughout the night.
-
“Are you serious?! He texted you?!” a friend of mine, Thalia, asked. There was a strange twinge in her voice. An excited twinge that made me want to slap whatever taste resided in her mouth.
And I knew exactly who the taste was for: Laurent Bourgeois.
She’d always had a taste for Laurent and to say that that had always bothered me would be an understatement.
“Yes Thalia,” I muttered dryly, buttering my slice of bread. My appetite was shot but I was at least trying. I refused to allow another being to restrict me from eating when plentiful food was available. I tried to humor myself with the thought that I was eating for the lost and hungry children when Thalia halted that attempt.
“What did he say? What did he want? Oh my god. That fine fucker. I would so have his babies. God, I don’t know why you didn’t when you had the chance.”
Anyone who wanted to have Laurent’s child was a bonafide idiot and deserved to be sent through the wringer. He would probably be a good father to the child, no doubt, but as far as the woman was concerned she would probably only want, wish, and wait for him for the rest of her life. This was because Laurent sticking to one woman was much like a businessman only wanting one customer who only paid less than half-price. It was like economics to this guy. Society couldn’t function if he, just one precious man amongst many, settled down with just one person. That would just be too ghastly!
It was this type of blatant ignorance from friends and even enemies that fueled my dislike towards him. Sometimes he didn’t even have to do anything. Sometimes he didn’t even have to exist and the people around me would make me hate him more than I did before.
And I was well aware of hate being a strong word.
But I used the word very wisely.
While I didn’t honor Thalia’s comment, I knew that I didn’t matter. When it came to Laurent, taking a hint did not matter. No one else mattered when it came to Laurent.
“So what did he say?” She pressed.
Not saying anything would only make her press harder and she was already leaving an annoying dent on me.
“He said ‘I hear you get a new place. Imma stop through to see what it look like’”. What I told her was what he had texted me word for word. It was such a negligent, impersonal comment I felt like he did it just to make a fool of me.
Thalia’s squeal nearly singed my ears and the cold look I gave her did not stop her overrated excitement.
“Oh my gosh. Bitch, you should be bouncing off of walls by now. So he hit it? He ate the pussy too right? I heard he was notorious for doing that—“
“Thalia! Chill!”
Sometimes I couldn’t understand the horny gall of some of my friends. Sex was the center of their world and if a man sexed you good then he was absolved of all else. All he had to do was ‘work the dick’ and ‘provide a good face to sit on’ and life was as bright as the sun.
“He didn’t show up,” I continued dryly, wondering why a tightness coiled around my throat. Saying the words left a bad taste in my mouth.
A year of no contact and he still managed to make me feel like he was driving me through the wall.
She calmed down a little bit, donning a look of confusion. “What? Why would he say he was showing up?”
The question seemed to suction out all my energy. With a heavy sigh, I gave up on trying to eat and placed my butter knife and baguette down.
“You tell me Thalia. You tell me.”
She quieted down, but only for my sake. I knew if I wasn’t around she would’ve said something that would turn it into my fault and hail Laurent the king. Something along the lines of ‘Well she probably wasn’t satisfying his needs anyway. If I had him to myself he would never leave me.’
And I wasn’t just being jaundiced because I’d heard her say something like this behind my back once. So why did I choose to keep her a friend?
Well, misery does love company.
And I was miserable. Boy was I miserable.

Blind Date
"Any bats in the cave?"
Amelia let out a squealing laugh as Laurent stretched his nostril before her, invading her personal space as she lay sprawled on the couch. Grabbing a fist full of his plush brown curls, she pushed his head aside as he stumbled backward, chuckling mischievously.
"Stop being gross," she snorted disapprovingly as he inspected himself in the mirror hanging on the living room wall. Laurent twisted to peer at her, his eyes squinted.
"So you’d really send me off on this date with shit in my nose? What a friend," He scoffed, his voice drenched in sarcasm.
"Exactly--then she’ll know how much of a pig you are," Amelia smiled, gesturing towards the state of the living room; various pairs of Jordan sneakers littered the carpeted floor, read and unread mail piled over the coffee table, and sweat drenched tanks, shirts, and crew necks hung on the back of the couch.
"Wow," Laurent mouthed, flipping her off. The smile pulling at his lips told her he knew she was absolutely right. Living with him three years was enough to let her know that disorganization was just the way he operated best. “I’ve gotten better, okay?” He defended himself, trying to save face.
That wasn’t a complete lie; he had gotten better believe it or not. Amelia thought back to the earlier days—when she’d first moved in with him. He was the perfect roommate in all aspects except cleanliness. Just one month with him had her ready to cut her lease with him short, but being a college student living off a minimum wage salary-- it was something she had to deal with. Now, three years later, she was glad she hadn’t left. Laurent had turned out to be an amazing roommate. He’d made her feel at home immediately and made the male:female aspect of their living situation as nonchalant as possible. Getting to know him, Amelia had soon learned his messiness stemmed from his lack of time. He spent a large amount of it with his twin brother, Larry, running a dance studio. And so an agreement was drawn—Amelia handled cleaning only if Laurent took over groceries and dinner duty.
Besides being a great roommate, Laurent had slowly but surely worked his way into becoming one her closest friends. Although he could be as immature as she was, which many times spelled a recipe for disaster, he was a great listener and offered wise insight whenever he could. And in return, even if they did get on each other’s nerves, which wasn’t a rarity, Amelia was always there to soothe away the stresses of owning a business with a sibling, distracting him with laughs and giggles. When one wasn’t engulfed by her studies or the other with his dance duties, the two were always caught together. Any and every activity together created new memories for them-- even things as simple as falling asleep together on the couch, watching Spirited Away for the millionth time. Their vibrancy and spirit heightened in the presence of the other easily. They were alike and different all the same and it was the perfect mixture.
The perfect match.
“Sure,” she quipped with a smile, throwing a pillow from the couch at him He deflected it with his arm, laughing as he adjusted his jacket.
Sitting up, Amelia rested her elbow on the arm of the sofa, letting her cheek spill into her palm as she watched him fuss over his attire for the night. He was dressed handsomely in a white thermal, covered in a black jacket. His neck was adorned by his usual black buff, a little twin ritual she noticed he shared with his brother and never questioned, the same way she never questioned his need to wear his trousers backwards…like how he was wearing his black Levi’s right now. His fingers shined with their usual “homemade knuckle brass” as Amelia liked to call his various rings. His hair was a full and thriving halo around his head, much better than the breakage ridden mess she’d met when she’d first moved in. She assessed every part of him unknowingly; appreciating every little detail before her eyes locked on the curious little beads he called eyes.
"You look good," she affirmed finally, a smile on her lips.
Turning to face the mirror, Laurent stifled the grin on his face, his response soft spoken. He fought the tingling feeling running over his skin.
"Thanks."
The pocketed moment was neither thick nor thin but just right. It consisted of just the two of them and all the buzzing sentences that always remained unspoken. The trance was broken by the ringing of Laurent’s phone, of which Amelia was happy, quickly distracting herself by her own phone. She tried her hardest to seem uninterested as his muffled conversation floated in her ears.
…."You’re outside?"…."Yeah I’m done, I’m on my way down."….
Turning to face a seemingly indifferent Amelia, Laurent cleared his throat.
"That was Louis and Bryan," he gestured toward his phone before pocketing it. “I’m out.”
Grabbing his keys, he brushed past the couch, ready to go. Awkwardness washed over Amelia as she decided whether or not to walk him to the door. The whisper of her socks on the hard wood floors of the front foyer alerted Laurent as he passed over the threshold, facing her. The dim hall light made her shimmer with shadows as his eyes met hers in suspicion.
"Okay, no drinking, no cussing, no smoking and if your mystery lady/blind date tries to touch you in your no-no areas, you pepper spray her and run," Amelia said matter a factly, leaning on the door frame with crossed arms. Laurent let out a silent chuckle, nodding his head obediently as she stared up at him amusedly.
"Yes ma’am."
"I’ll catch you lat--"/ "Good night Mia—“
Both laughed as their sentences collided, Amelia watching the way little crow’s feet appeared near his eyes and Laurent watching the way her upper lip curled in pleasure. It died down to a thoughtful silence once again, both lost in thoughts they’d much rather not tell the other about. Looking down at his shoes, Laurent locked onto her eyes, allowing her to speak first this time around. Small under his gaze, Amelia cleared her throat shoving his arm gently, giving him the green light to go.
"Have fun," she called into the hall as his form disappeared.
Closing the door, Amelia leaned upon it, letting her body sag. She pulled the draw strings of her hoodie until her face was completely engulfed in the teal cotton, letting out an audible sigh.
She eventually peeled herself from the door as her phone sounded off.
-
"Can it take you any longer to climb down some stairs?" Bryan called out from the driver’s seat, his arm hanging out of the window as Laurent crossed the street to meet them, fog escaping his lips, his hands dug deep into his pockets. He offered an indifferent smile as he climbed into the back of the black range rover.
"When I tell you she’s bad? Man, she is bad," Louis whistled from the passenger seat, continuing the conversation that’d been ongoing before.
Laurent partially listened, peering out of the car window just as they pulled off. The lights in Mia’s bedroom were bright against the night sky, her silhouette moseying around clear as day. He always told her she should buy curtains but she had a habit of not listening to advice until she learned the lesson herself. He shook his head with a smile.
"Aye, are you even paying attention?"
Laurent was brought back down to earth as Louis slapped a hand on his knee, his hazel eyes shifting under the shadows of the street lights. "I said you’re going to like her," he repeated himself, Bryan agreeing with a nod of his head as he turned the wheel.
"Let’s hope I do," Laurent shrugged, shoving thoughts of Amelia back into the catacombs if his mind where they belonged.
-
"So is this classy or?"
Amelia spoke tentatively into her phone, pacing her bedroom, clothes already randomly strewn onto her bed. She landed into her pillows with a huff, listening as her friends Liza and Norelle shouted different things into her ear.
"Just dress like yourself," Liza offered.
"But make sure it looks good!" Norelle ended right behind her.
Shortly after Laurent embarked on his evening, her girls had called her up wondering if she was up to anything that night. Amelia didn’t fancy spending the night alone in the apartment and Laurent wouldn’t be back till late, or maybe not at all…
"Hello? Mia?!"
Amelia snapped back into reality, rising to thumb through her wardrobe once more.
"We’re gonna be there in 20 minutes, you better be ready!" Liz warned.
"And look good!" Norelle added.
Amelia squinted at her phone. She could not understand why they sounded so suspicious if all that was planned for the night was a little girl’s night out at the bar to keep her occupied.
"Please don’t tell me ya’ll are hinting at what I think you’re hinting at?" Amelia hissed.
"And what’s that?" Norelle wondered, an obvious smile in her voice.
"Try to set me up with someone tonight and I will run up his tab at the bar and tell him I’m a lesbian by the end of the night, try me," Amelia threatened with a laugh, slipping out of her clothes for a quick shower.
Norelle burst into laughs as Liza regained her phone.
"Just be ready," she quipped before the line went dead.
-
Laurent checked his wrist watch for the 3rd time that night, nodding his head to the music absentmindedly. They’d arrived at this club 30 minutes ago and his date was a no show as far as he was concerned. While he was having fun with his buddies and enjoying the fairly new place that he’d been meaning to check out with Larry anyways-- he definitely didn’t mind declaring the night a fail and making his way back home. He swirled a virgin drink in his hand, laughing boisterously with Louis and Bryan from time to time—whenever his mind allowed him to tune in.
"Can we buy you something?"
The trio turned around from their hunched positions against the bar counter top to find two pairs of flirty eyes gazing at them. The ladies giggled, their cheeks flushed pink under the flittering lights and it was obvious they were a little more than buzzed.
Clearing his throat with a smirk, Louis leaned forward. “Well I’d like a…,”
"Not you," the more brazen of the two smiled shamelessly. "Him," she pointed a manicured finger at Laurent. Bryan and Laurent struggled to hold their laughs at Louis’s rejection. Catching his breath, Laurent smiled shaking his head.
"I’m sorry baby, I don’t drink," he admitted.
"You’re no fun," she pouted. "C’mon girl," her friend tugged her along.
"Man, you’re a curse," Louis pointed a finger at Laurent with a laugh.
"It’s not my fault, ya’ll got me out here looking like I’m single," Laurent shrugged with a humble grin as he hung his head.
"You are!" Bryan & Louis exploded in laughter.
He shrugged at them once more, sitting up straight as he adjusted his jacket out of habit. He hoped his blind date really was a no a show, then he’d be able to successfully wiggle his way out of his friend’s millionth attempt at setting him up with someone.
"She’ll be here soon, man," Bryan assured Laurent, reading his bored expression. Laurent glanced at him, nodding nonchalantly as he watched him answer a text on his phone. He raised his glass to his lips, letting his eyes glaze over the thrashing crowd; his attention stolen near the entrance.
-
Locking her phone, Liza intertwined her fingers in Amelia’s as she led her past the bouncer and into the rushing atmosphere of the club.
She felt sky high in her ankle strapped heels, the satin material of her white jumper pants whispering over her freshly lotioned legs. Her skin began to feel dewy in the crowed setting; she was thankful she’d finally decided on a slightly sheer black crop top. She could already feel the humidity attack her freshly laid bun. Norelle held onto her other arm, trailing along as Liza led them toward the bar area. Brushing up on sweaty, dancing bodies led to Amelia meeting the stare of several prospect men. She let her eyes watch the tiled floors instead, her cheeks burning. It was rare for her to dress up in this way and so the attention was a new experience every time.
"There they are!" Norelle shouted in both Liza and Amelia’s ears.
"Hm?" Amelia lifted her eyes to the direction Liza had been dragging them, her eyes bugging in surprise.
-
"Mia?" Laurent stood from his seat absentmindedly as the trio approached him.
His eyes glossed over her once more and were unsatisfied--so they roamed over her again, picking apart every piece of her aesthetic. He marveled in her attire, wondering where she’d had it hidden; he was so used to seeing her dressed casually that the look was a truly pleasant surprise. He took in every detail of her from how her winged eyeliner made her eyes feline-like to her glossy red toes peeking out of her heels. He finally settled on her deep red lips as they broke into a smile.
"Hey?" She greeted him with a curious smile.
"You look…damn," Laurent’s lips acted before his mind could, his eyebrows raised.
"Thanks," Amelia brushed imaginary lint from her bottoms as to buy her time to allow her burning cheeks to cool over. "What are you doing here?" She looked up again, his eyes still innocent and searching. "Aren’t you on a date?"
Louis and Bryan began laughing and she wasn’t sure why as she glanced at them.
"She’s not her--," Laurent began with a shrug but was interrupted.
"She’s right here --have fun bye," Liza smiled in a rush, shoving Amelia into Laurent’s chest as Norelle grabbed both Louis and Bryan’s hands to lead them away. Just like that, the two were left alone, encased in their own paused world; the thumping bass of everything was blocked out.
-
Amelia braced herself upon Laurent’s chest, laughing nervously as her cheeks burned over, having no plans of cooling down any time soon. Laurent’s arm snaked around her waist, steadying her.
“You alright?” He bent and asked into her ear. She glanced up at him with a shy smile, shaking her head.
“I can’t believe them,” she laughed nervously once again, creating space between her body and his. “I should really…I can’t believe them,” she giggled, her words nervously running out of her mouth. She craned her neck in search of her conniving circle of friends—really, looking at everything but Laurent. She was truly embarrassed and caught off guard.
“I—I’m gonna go find them,” Amelia looked up to Laurent’s eyes, ready to spin away from him but she was in for a surprise as his hand encircled her wrist, stopping her from escaping the situation. Escaping him.
“Why are you running?” He asked genuinely. He had to admit-- out of all the stunts his friends had pulled before, this was the most creative. He wasn’t aware of how truly transparent he’d been over the years about his feelings.
“Running?” Amelia glanced at him, her defenses up. She was indeed running. He pursed his lips at her, giving her his all famous ‘don’t bullshit me’ eyes.
“Shut up,” she finally allowed her tensed shoulders to hang freely, laughing as she hid her face in his chest. “This is embarrassing,” she admitted.
The natural comforter, Laurent gave her a squeeze, grabbing her chin. His smile was winning as she looked up at him. “Nothing’s embarrassing; c’mon let’s dance, might as well right?” He shrugged, tugging her along to the dance floor. Amelia let out a stream of air, ever thankful for Laurent’s ability to glaze over any and everything thing deep and thought provoking.
The heavy cloak of awkwardness was whipped off them as they let loose on the dance floor, drinks easily flowing between them, after strong persuasion from Amelia that is. They danced ridiculous circles around each other, earning stares and snickers from other club goers but neither were concerned at how silly they looked hitting the running man, how outdated the bankhead bounce was, or how shameful it was that Laurent’s twerking beat hers by a landslide—this was just another perfect memory being created together.
Eventually, the DJ mixed in Mr. Steal Your Girl. The two stopped fooling around, watching as pairs coupled up around them, winding and grinding in slow circles. Amelia glanced at Laurent and laughed, a little more buzzed than she intended but she was fully aware of she felt as his arms found their place around her waist, her head resting back against the crook of his neck like it always ought to be. They started up with a simple in sync two-step but Amelia could no longer fight her instincts. Her hips wound against him and their eyes met in the shifty shadows of the lights; Laurent’s hooded while her’s twinkled. His hips returned the torturous favor, his grip on her waist possessive. Their hearts beat in rapid excitement as Laurent’s lips grazed along her neck while his hands charted new territory along her body. Basking in the magic of all of him, Amelia stared at his lips from under her lashes and, as if he’d read her mental cue instantly, his lips found hers immediately.
-
“How mad do you think they are?” Liza snickered, swirling the straw in her drink as she leaned upon Louis’s chest. She looked at Norelle and Bryan across the booth they were sharing as they kept watch over their little love struck friends.
“Not that mad-- look at them,” Bryan smiled, nodding his head toward the set up couple lost in their own world on the dance floor.
“If we didn’t do this, they’d never get together,” Norelle rolled her eyes, finally happy to see her two friends move on to the next chapter of their relationship.
She glanced up at them, her smile brightening as she caught Laurent’s lips slipping over Amelia’s.
“Look!” She alerted the others. She stood and pointed, jumping up and down.
“YESSSS, YA’LL BETTER DO THAT—YES!”
-
Startled, both Laurent and Amelia snapped their necks to the right, catching sight of Norelle clapping and smiling at them, the others around her whooping and throwing thumb’s ups into the air. Amelia turned, burying her face into Laurent’s chest as he leaned over in laughter. He spun them around, his back facing them, his frame towering over Amelia. He blocked them out completely, losing himself in her once again.
They were disturbing his blind date.+

The Cabin
“I love it here…” You whisper into Louis’ ear next to the small fire that he and the boys had built outside, in the gravel driveway of the cabin you were staying in. Louis had wanted to take you and the guys to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, to stay in the mountains for a week. The boys had also bought their significant others, so it wasn’t awkward really; you weren’t in a house full of boys alone.
“I’m glad you love it,” he smiles as he kisses your temple, wrapping his arms tighter around you to hold you close to him as the cool autumn air whips through your hair, and through the trees.
“Can we go inside?” You ask, eyeing the remnants of the fire in front of you. The others had gone to bed a long time ago, leaving Louis and yourself alone. He stands up and holds his hand out, grabbing yours to lead you inside of the warm cabin.
“Go sit on the couch, I’m going to make us some hot chocolate.” He grins and walks towards the kitchen, looking back as you sit down on the couch, facing the fireplace and floor to ceiling peaked windows. You feel a tap on your shoulder after a few minutes and turn around, seeing Louis with two mugs of hot cocoa. “Here you go, marshmallows, just like you like it.”
You take the steaming cup from his grasp, placing it to your lips to take a sip after blowing on it. “Good, yeah?” He smiles and runs his free hand through your hair, letting it fall to rest on your cheek. “You’re so beautiful. You even make that hideous oversized sweater look amazing.” He chuckles when a hint of bright pink lights your cheeks. “How do you do it?”
You can’t do anything but shrug your shoulders and watch as he comes to sit beside you on the couch. “Wait, do what?”
“How are you so fucking beautiful, even when you’re wearing the simplest or oldest of clothes?” You rest your head over on his shoulder, smiling while you trace your finger around the rim of the hot cup, gathering some of the chocolate he’d put in the hot cocoa on your finger, and kissing it away from your own skin. “Everyone gets so excited about fall, about the colors and whatnot, but you’re my favorite thing about fall; not the leaves, or the smell of the fires that crackle at night while people roast marshmallows and tell stories, not the crisp smell in the air, not the smell or taste of your favorite cocoa on a cool night. To me, you’re like a warm cozy sweater… without you fall wouldn’t be fall for me, and without you, I’d have no sight to see that could make me fall in love than the sight of you looking like you do in that… horrendously perfect sweater.” He laughs, and plucks at the sleeve of, what you call, your ‘fall sweater’.
“I happen to like this sweater!” You sip from your mug of cocoa, a smile playing at the corners of your lips.
“It’s a lovely sweater.” He playfully grimaces, “but in all seriousness, I am sorry if what I just said made no sense… but to simplify things, to me you’re like the colors of the leaves in the fall, everyone looks forward to that. For me, being with you like this, that’s what I look forward to, and without you fall just wouldn’t exist for me; It would be the saddest season.”
You look up at him with bright eyes and smile as you giggle, gesturing towards your sweater. “Let’s be honest, who else is going to love me in this tacky thing?”
“Nobody else needs to, because you have me,” He sits his mug down on the cup, doing the same with yours, before meeting his lips to yours. He pulls a small orange box from his pocket, sitting it on your leg after opening it, letting your eyes meet a beautiful yet simple ring after his lips leave yours, “And I have you.”
