I just finished a Gossip Girl story on FanFiction that I've been writing for 3 1/2 years and I feel so strange. I lost track of it for a while but I always loved Nate and Jenny so was determined to finish it and now that I have a feel... so strange! I can't put it into words. I'm happy and sad and relieved and I feel like I'm missing something now? Is that odd? Can you relate?

i’ve only ever really finished one story, and granted it didn’t take me three years, but i still felt very bittersweet when i finished it. because you come to love a world and the characters you engage with and as it feels wonderful to complete something, it’s also sad to pull it to a close because you’ve spent so much time with it. so yeah, i think a bit of empty nesting is to be expected. :/

Maybe this will help in some way and I really hope it does. Personally I suffer terribly from anxiety and one of my triggers is what other people think of me. But I love writing fanfic and, one day during my creative writing degree, I was writing something (that wasn't my assignment but I mean who actually does what they're meant to at university) and a good friend - who can be really judgy - asked me what I was working on. And I just told him, and he was great about it. (cont'd in next ask)

(2). I was really terrified he'd think I was strange, sad, weird etc and it triggered me so badly. But he literally just sat there and smiled, then asked me to explain how it worked etc. Now I'm open about it with him. He's one of three friends who know I write it and I find that's enough really. Maybe this won't help and I'm sorry if doesn't but that's my personal experience with real life and fic life coming together. Plus, if all else fails, we're here in the world of fic for you! Love xx

well the thing is i also like the separation. i like that this is my weird nerdy hobby and a place of anonymity for myself---which is relaxing for someone with anxiety!---so i’m not interested in breaking that bubble. but it also stresses me out at the same time, lmao. but i’m glad you have had a good experience with talking about it!

Hey :) Steve is protective about her and goes mad when Tony locks her in the Avengers facility. He also has a talk to her after she causes a catastrophe in Africa in the beginning. They seem quite close.
