Replacement Princess isekai au
We all know of the usual story about Link and Zelda, but what if there was no Zelda and without Zelda what if theres no Link...
This is an idea i thought of while reading Linked Universe isekai fics.
The reader/mc was born prematurely, stuck in a hospital from day one and it wouldn't be the last. They lived a life with constant complications and needed to stay in a hospital or at the very least at home in bed constantly, which led to them being alone for most of their life reading manga and comics and playing video games to pass the time.
Eventually they would end up succumbing to their illness in their sleep...
However it would seem that a certain Goddess had been watching the reader and decided that they should be given a second chance at life, so the reader would wake up having been transported to the world of Legend of Zelda in the body a princess that looks just like them, however the world looks slightly different, more closed off and dark with Knights practically everywhere.
In this world, the previous Link that had died ended up being the only one in years along with Zelda.
Which of course only led to Ganondorf and the monsters taking over most of Hyrule leading the people to hide away behind fortresses and walls built to defend against even the strongest foe.
An army of knight after knight is trained and then sent to try and defeat the constant hoard or monsters as the king and his people hope and prey to Hylia for the next arrival of the hero and continue to build wall after wall to keep themselves safe, The reader after learning the situation not only from the king but also the Goddess herself, they are determined to search for the hero themselves since the king is obviously too frightened by the circumstances to leave the kingdom (for good reason)...
On the other hand, the chain have been through portal after portal trying and failing to capture the shadow.
So when they arrive to completely different hyrule their shocked to find it in such a state of disarray, having come across and fighting practically an army of mobs they are understandably wounded and tired.
When they arrive to the kingdom they are at first stopped and questioned, before quickly being ushered in due to the king's orders.
Its there that they find out that im this universe there is no Link or Zelda but a hoard of monsters and Ganondorf, they are of course asked to help with the fight against Ganon but if they can't then to atleast help find his daughter since she took off to go and look for the hero herself with the help of a fairy. They agree and after resting a bit they set off to go search for the princess...
This is all i have for now, i thought I'd be a cool idea considering the whole isekai feel of the Linked Universe in the first place. :3
