TODAY'S FACT IS
Did you know that the European Stag Beetle (Lucanus cervus) is the largest known beetle in Europe? Like many other beetles, the male is significantly larger than the female and he is highly territorial. Like their stag namesake, the males will fight with each other using their mandibles (trying to throw the other off the branch or leaf they're fighting on) both for territory and for mating rights.

Yeahh
I really love them
and this ✋️
I drew the bird a bug friend. I guess the random notes from a year or so ago (or whenever they talk about those initiatives on UK television) were not wasted.
I remember a podcast where a creative/illustrator is being interviewed and is asked the question "do you run out of ideas" he basically said back that he has too many to use. Your sketchbooks are your source of ideas and inspiration. Which I found very inspiring in that not all unfinished or bad works are destined for the trash; merely the basis of a new idea for your future self.
I found this lovely lady on the ground so I moved her to a safer location where hopefully she'll dig a hole and lay lots of eggs :D
stag beetles spend most of their lives underground, but during the summer they emerge to reproduce. if you find any (male or female, alive or dead) remember to record them on the annual Great Stag Hunt website!
