“Just.. be with me. Please?”
this is a bad idea. this whole relationship spells out bad ideas to jiyu— which is a shame, because there’s no doubt that she likes yujin, even loves her, but there’s nothing safe or secure about an idol like yujin dating, and even more, there’s nothing safe about two girls dating in this kind of situation. she’s thinking on this, absentmindedly staring at their hands clasped together. she can hear yujin pleading with her and it breaks her heart a little bit, because she never expected to be in this position, and she doesn’t like seeing yujin like this. if anything, she would have expected it be her who was pleading for yujin not to let go of them, but not this. “i just don’t want anything to happen to you,” she said gently. “i’m not — i won’t go anywhere for now, but if things get out of hand, if things start to go bad for you, i’ll have to. you’re not going to sacrifice your whole career for me. i won’t let you.”
“You deserve so much better than me.”
“shut up,”she mutters under her breath, barely keeping awake as she tries to get a good look at the paperwork on her lap. it’s far too late for adam to start doing this with her in terms of time of day-kimberly’s not that far from crashing into sleep before she’s even eaten for the night. “if i wanted to date some...some asshole who’s a lawyer or whatever, or if i wanted money or status or whatever, i would have just married that guy my parents have been trying to set me up with since high school,” she tries to explain. “but i don’t. i make my own money, i buy my own things, and i don’t need anybody to provide those things for me. i’m not into all the superficial things in relationships when i can do that myself.” she rubs her eyes behind her glasses, giving up on the paperwork to try and get a proper look at adam with a sleepy smile. “you know if i didn’t want you around i would have gotten rid of you months ago, right? but i didn’t. know why?” she kneels on the couch, crawling close enough to him for their faces to touch before collapsing onto his body, using his chest as a pillow. “because you don’t care about the material things i have. and that’s what i want. somebody who cares more about me than my things.”
“I can’t lose you. I need you.”
“yujin, please don’t do this,” she pleaded, holding the other girl by her shoulders and trying to avoid the broken look in the other’s eyes. they were already trying to keep quiet as is, doing this outside, cloaked in face masks and hats. after thinking it over for some time, jiyu had decided it would be best for the two not to see each other anymore, at least not romantically. though yujin couldn’t always see it, being locked in the bubble of an idol, jiyu, who lived the day to day life of somebody with little fame outside of a background dancer, saw everything. “it’s not safe anymore. what are you going to do if everybody finds out? how are you going to handle that? i told you before, if it got too dangerous, i’d stop this. and it’s too dangerous now.” her words were soft, hands leaving the other’s shoulders to gently hold her hands. “i got a job offer to go on tour for the next couple months with some friends, so i’m going to go, and you’re going to stay here and be fine without me.” trying to remain optimistic, but failing, jiyu took a strangled breath. “i’m sorry,” she whispered, pulling yujin close. “i’m so sorry.”
