Okay incomprehensible rambling ahead but Lucean and Kira as a duo are so fucking funny to me.
Like on one hand you have a incredibly smart but pyromaniacal hobgoblin, who has been told he's the gods special little boy who can do no wrong and just happens to have the biggest fucking dragon there is (those last two things might be connected); and on the other hand there is Kira, who got more or less kidnapped into this situation and is playing fighter pilot in a cold war with her own home country, while trying so hard to be the edgy teenage protégé that needs no one, but immediately gets attached to every person she exchanges more than two words with.
Now put those two in a jar together and watch them not only immediately adopt each other but also convince Calahan and Co to run away and start a merry little band of rebels, complete with stolen government weapons of war and mass destruction (the dragons), because they're still kids and think war is a fun adventure and they're the invulnerable protags of a YA Novel.
Idk its just really funny to me, those two are living in a YA Novel despite the world technically ending, Sade and Mila are convinced they're in a forbidden romance while everyone is under the impression that they've been a thing for years now and are just weird about it.
Calahan is the only one constantly aware of what genre they're in and just wishes he could be a cool chill wizard in a cottage core short story.
