Past midway on Cloak of Deception, and it’s got interesting moments, but there’s too much scene setting, too many characters and not enough character work for me to get my bearings. I think I felt that way about Unifying Force too, that a huge cast of characters makes it so I’m not really as drawn in. Compare those two to Darth Plagueis (which is centered on Plagueis and Palpatine), Catalyst (the Erso fam and Krennic), and Tarkin, and these are all far more character driven and successful in getting me to care about what happens.
It’s cool to see all these EU peeps name dropped, but even with people who we spend time with like Qui gon and Obi wan, there’s really not much new insights given. Kind of a bummer.
