One of my favorite #performance groups anywhere. @lucentdossier conceived by @dreamrockwell performed the #human #initiation #project #HIP at @playalchemist at #burningman inside the #pyramid To say the show was #magic is to very much to understate it. It was not just eye candy. It was an intentional and interactive mirror utilizing exceedingly creative performances to reflect and comment on today’s society. It was #interactive environment that created space for participants (there were no spectators) to ponder the current state of affairs in the default world and each one of our parts in that current state. Left me thinking and I am sure it left everyone else who was lucky enough to see it thinking about how they would participate in improving our planet upon our return to the default world. Thanks to everyone involved in gifting this to the playa. The show was sooo good I didn’t think one Post would do it justice. So here is another. This is of @roxanneruby getting #burned #joanofarc style. So impressive. Sometimes reality has an ugly side. Many people who have been to #lightninginabottle (myself included) cherished the authentic connection to the human experience that allowed it to transcend beyond a music festival simply there to entertain. It was supposed to be an example of the intersection of spirituality, entertainment and conscious commerce. Unfortunately the human illness of greed can grab hold of those appearing to be the stewards of "doing things the right way". A festival - gathering half built on the backs of volunteers owes it to those not profiting from it to at least stay true to their authenticity. Unfortunately this ain't the case. Much as when I learned that Santa Claus was not real I must once again allow the unfortunate reality of cynicism set in as another beautiful creation passed into the realm of illusion. The incomparable @ringmasterroger doing character work at #LIBfestival inside the @grandartique One of the things I've always loved about our #BurningMan scene is that it gives people the platform to find their true selves through art and performace. It gives people a safe place to try new things with an adoring audience, and is one of the reasons so many art projects of all varieties found their roots in the Burning Man scene. In Roger's case, I saw him first performing with #LucentDossier and he has made a career of character work at events. I actually had the honor of recommending him to @amancalledbunny for @insomniacevents 's Halloween characters, and he's been a staple not only there but through the entire festival network. Even all of @LIBfestival was a party that the twins started for their birthday. When I first went it was only around 400 people. Incredibly proud of all the creative things I see our friends do.
