“You wouldn’t believe who was in my bed this morning,” Dom said, already shaking his head. “Davina. Davina decided to use the key I gave her to sleep in my bed, and for what? For what? Like, I know I got the most comfortable bed in all of Nightrest, but goddamn,” he said, before eventually letting out a chuckle as he leaned back against his seat. “I swear to God, that lady’s gonna give me a heart attack one day,” Dom added with a shake of his head. “Anyway, what happened with you? I left Medusa early so I didn’t see if you went home with somebody,” Dom said, a teasing smirk on his lips as he wiggled his eyebrows at his friend.

This wasn’t like the last time he came over after the news of Dante’s death got out. That was a person Dominic actually cared about, but now, he didn’t really know how to comfort one of his closest friends when the guy who just died was someone he had publicly accused of being the killer. It was why he stalled once the door was opened, making the split decision to just not talk about Toby at all, despite the news of his death being the entire reason he was here in the first place. “You going to the engagement party?” Dom asked.

His mind was still reeling from the news that was a horrible thing to wake up to. Dante and Sawyer. He couldn’t wrap his head around the thought that both of them were gone, just like that, when he saw both of them at the music festival just a couple of days ago. He knew how close Lucia and Dante were, and he didn’t even bother to say anything as soon as he got out of his car and didn’t stop knocking on her door until she opened up, just wrapped his arms around her and held her close.

It was probably best if Toby would get over these feelings for his ex-girlfriend -- he really should, since it’s been years -- but every time he saw her, it was like he was right back there, wanting to ask her to stay or wanting to tell her he’ll go with her, and knowing he could never do either. He could still remember how he felt their relationship was doomed the second the words ‘We should try long distance’ were uttered, but despite it all, still wanting to see her happy, and constantly making sure she was doing okay. “Hey,” Toby warmly said, showing her a small smile as he leaned against the bar, ordering another beer for himself, his last for the night since he didn’t want to go overboard. “Can I buy you a drink?”
