marta/andras reacting to the 30s film of them and reminiscing. bonus points for warm and fluffy feelings
(for you viewers at home, Lucia and i have a headcanon that in the early 1930s, Andras and Marta get a screwball film made about their relationship. It’s not very historically accurate, but it is hilarious)
Vienna, 1933
“Well frankly, I didn’t think that film was much good at all,” Andras huffed, bringing down his cane sharply on the pavement for emphasis. “Paul Muni doesn’t look anything like me, and he can’t play the violin worth a toss.”
Marta laughed lightly and glanced over her shoulder at the brightly lit cinema, the words Scandal in Summer still blazing from the marquee. “You should be flattered, darling! To think they made a film about us, as though we weren’t a dull old married couple. I suppose we did have adventures once, though...”
“Huh! You’re just flattered that Hedy Lamarr played you. And she’s not half as good-looking as you. What fool picked that title, anyway? We were causing trouble well into December, as I recall.”
“Every year you become more and more like your father,” said Marta. “A proper curmudgeon. But it’s cold outside; if you really must complain about our lovely moving picture, could we do it over some sachertorte?”
Andras smiled and patted his wife’s arm. “As usual, you are a font of good ideas, my darling.”
