he is rendered complacent beneath the devil's touch. envy would not admit to it, but being doted on was something he craved. the little sin sits prettily on the lap of the devil himself, back facing lucifer. each time the brush goes through his hair, combing away the tangles, he seems to sink further back.

creature that is normally prickly and impish is currently tame as a kitten. in fact, he almost purrs under the touch.

the curls have become soft under such care and have a lovely shine. his eyes are half - lidded, almost asleep.

the desire to snap back like a rabid dog is second nature to livius. it comes upon him like a storm. lucifer has no sooner uttered the words before envy wants to strike. he wants the being to know he is not to be owned. that, however, would not do for his sake.

"so selfish," he croons instead, moving to take a seat on the devil's lap. he moves with ease; livius is graceful, and when he moves it is with purpose, with beauty. he is charming. he reaches for lucifer's face, delicate fingers brushing his cheekbone.

the sin smiles.

but he cannot resist the urge to poke. he cannot resist the urge to test the boundaries of the ex-angel. "are you so sure? I am not easily owned."

bitterness on his tongue: he is being told to leave, and livius despises the very words. he looks up at the creature standing before him and frowns. perhaps lucifer means well; in fact, somewhere in the dark recesses of envy's brain, he is certain that his companion is only looking out for him. however, it is not in envy's nature to be grateful.

as it is, he feels put out by the order to shoo.

"I'm not going anywhere," he claims, voice sharp. his shoulders square, perhaps in a way to feel bigger than what he is. "no."
