Childhood headcanon
Q’s childhood was cushy, he had everything handed to him on a silver platter as a Moretti. But throughout the first eleven years of his life he struggled to get any kind of recognition from his mum, Maria, whom was always busy with work or simply thought Q’s meager achievements were below her standards. She was incredibly disappointed that Quin wasn’t particularly bright in the slightest, had none of her sense of authority, responsibility or drive. Q took after his father totally and utterly and that irritated Maria so in an attempt to drive him to better things she was incredibly harsh on him, it didn’t work.
His memories of his dad are all positive and happy for the most part, especially if Maria wasn’t around—which she rarely was with work. But for the most part Q spent his time out of the family home in school which he failed abysmally at. The rest of his childhood spent in Night City was a little bleaker, at the age of 11 he and Lynna got kicked out of her apartment due to her debts. A few days later he started running small jobs for the very people that Lynna owed money too to pay them off. They spent a month and a half homeless with a few of Lynna’s ‘friends’, Q used to sleep with a knife just in case.
There is a lot that could be said about Q’s childhood it’s been a lot of ups and downs but I don’t think he spends a great deal of time thinking about it these days. It plays on his mind occasionally but never for long.
