2: Cheek Kiss (Cuz he's too vanilla for anything else yet x'D)
It was a thoughtless gesture, really, planted in thecarelessness of sleepiness with neither awareness nor intent.
Sunlight leaked timidly from the blinds, the warmth of theafternoon enveloping the expanse of his living room, which was otherwise keptcool and dark. Though they had gradually grown closer, there was typically adistinct distance maintained between the psychic and electric typedspecialists, an unspoken rule.
Day by day, the space was decreased just a little, but therule was broken entirely by Volkner, when he dozed off that afternoon andslumped against Lucian. It had been days, even weeks since Volkner had slept arestful sleep, and for all he pretended and insisted that he was fine, he was beyondexhausted. At some point his body had to give in: sleep was inevitable, andLucian was a convenient pillow.
The book he’d been reading dropped into his lap, and hiseyes drifted shut for the last time as he rested his head against Lucian’sshoulder and at last surrendered to the slumbering world.
He didn’t sleep long. When Lucian shifted just a little bit,he began to stir, blinking blearily up at the man, mumbling in half a whisper, “didI fall asleep?”
If Lucian felt at all uncomfortable, he took great care notto show it – or maybe Volkner was just too tired to notice, as the man repliedwith something along the lines of, “go back to sleep.”
Docile and compliant in his groggy state, Volkner nodded andbegan to drift off again, but not before leaning up to plant a kiss to the man’scheek, muttered a quiet, “g’night.”
