Lucy Kim, Institute of Technology fall 2026
Book cover for Susanna Hoffs's This Bird Has Flown, designed by Lucy Kim.
Hi! Can I ask, do you have any idea what age is Lucy when she got adopted by V and MC? Is she adopted when she’s aged same like when Rika adopted? I can’t guess how old is she In VAE. She also knew that she’s adopted and even have plan for future. Imo she’s so..genius to be called as 5 y/o since VAE happened after 5 years or that’s actually normal?
I honestly don't know what age she is. If we just guess by looking at her, that's hard to say because the way that they draw children in this series can be all over the place. When the twins have been drawn as children, they tend to look much younger than their actual ages.
I can assume that Lucy is younger than 10 years old at this point. She cannot be older than that. She can also not be as young as 4 years old. So, it means she is somewhere in the age ranges of 5 to 9.
She's young enough for us to know she is capable of speaking and articulating without trouble. But, she's not quite old enough for us to say that she's beyond the years of Elementary school. We don't have any indication of when she was adopted or how she was adopted.
We just know that you have taken her under your wing. We only have so much information shared with us about this at the very end of the after-ending. So, it's really up to you on how you see it. Just from the way she speaks and how she's drawn, you get to guess how old you think she is. She's older than Rika in terms of the age when she was adopted. Rika was adopted around 3 or 4 years old as far as we can tell from Rika’s Behind Story.
V’s After Ending takes place 2 years after Another Story, and then the jump that happens after that is 5 years later. So, in that five years, you not only adopted a child but got married to V. We don’t have the timeline for either of those, but I’m going to assume that you probably didn’t adopt Lucy as a baby, likely as toddler if anything. V seems like he would want to get married to you first, and that will probably take a year or two from the time you start officially dating.
So that more or less leaves a three year cycle after that where we can assume Lucy was finally adopted. Depending on how old you want to think Lucy is, that will tell you how old she will be by the point you’re shown the happy family in the After Ending. That’s about as simple as I can make it.

One of my favorite things is highlighting covers that’ve gotten a change-up for the new version, because the only thing better than a single queer book look is having to have two of the same one because they’re just so stunning! Here are some books that got new outfits for 2020:
