Didn't realize I'd get kind of choked up when Reiju refers to Luffy as Luffy-kun when she's thinking about how the Vinsmokes are all sitting ducks at Big Mom's tea party, and wondering if Sanji and Luffy have a plan.

Luffy really does have that effect on people, doesn't he?

Let’s take a moment to talk about this screenshot. Because the way how they’re relationship was already developing was really impressing me.

This is the first time ever that Jinbei ever calls Luffy’s name. And already when he first says his name, he addresses him as “kun”.

Let me tell show you the definition of “kun” for anybody who does not know: “Kun” is a japanese suffix that is kind of similar to “San” except its more casual. The speaker would use it to address it to the person who is younger than them. However, they would mostly likely use “Kun” if its somebody they are more attached to and has known them for a long time.

Now when he addresses Ace, it’s Ace-san. “San” is like saying “Mr., Ms. Mrs”. Its a more formal way in calling a person who is more professional, well-known, and wise. Or if its someone you just met. And as we know, Jinbei has known Ace for quite a long time.

And ofcourse, the reason why he joined Luffy’s group was because he also wanted to stop the war and rescue his friend.

But already, by the time they head to level 4, just minutes after Luffy and Jinbei met, already he addresses it as “kun”. This means that already he starts growing trust and respect towards Ace’s little brother. Ever since then, we always see him next to Luffy.

let’s also not forget the fact that Jinbe already risked his life to save Luffy, despite knowing him for few or several hours.

Just wanted to point as to why I just love their relationship with each ALOT. Jinbe just treats him like a son of his and if you don’t agree with me, then just let me continue burying myself into a hole so I can happily family bond it in peace.
