Raichel's AUGUST Favorites
01. Spotify's Serendipity: Somewhere out there, someone is listening to the same song as you... possibly! With Spotify's animated real-time map, they show moments of musical serendipity which visualizes simultaneous music listening around the globe. Which begs the question, who else is listening (and dancing) to Ariana Grande's new album with me?
02. Luis Cornejo: Oil, acrylic, and charcoal on linen paintings of fashion magazine model poses but marked with pop culture references. Combining the modern couture of the svelte subject, Cornejo adds cleverness with pipes and pikachu hats. I love this one even more because it looks like Olive Oyl in Popeye's clothes.
03. The Drinkable Book: WaterIsLife's Drinkable Book combines a few of my favorite things; design, science, functionality, and philanthropy. Each sheet from the book is a water filter that reduces particle and bacteria count by 99.99% for up to 30 days. That makes 5,000 liters of safe water from a single book! It is educational with water safety tips right on the sheet and is a vital resource to provide safe drinking water in developing countries. Amazing.
