Commencement / Copperdale (4)
Haytch Opunui who is particularly proud of himself. Not only has secured a full scholarship, but he has raised plenty of money to cover any extra expenses for himself, and his journey to Britechester University. He’s been making, saving and investing the money he’s made from tutoring since freshman year.
Currently, he’s developing a tutoring app bad helps students link up with tutors near them who specialize in whatever subject they’re struggling with. He can’t wait to meet up with some business majors to draw up a plan.
His main goal is to make enough money that his father Kalib can finally get a break; not only is he an orthodontist, he’s spent the last several years, taking off their home.
Now that that’s done, his dream is to start a private practice - Haytch made it his goal to make sure his father didn’t have to spend a cent for his education so he could realize his dream.
His mother Shea has been busy with his little sister Vea, but she’s putting together a little shop at the house to sell sauces and canned goods to give people a taste of the island where she grew up.
Fun fact: she couldn’t be more different from her sister Ashleigh ( y’all might remember her from representing Levi at the hearing?) - we’re getting ahead of ourselves. Let’s move on to his cousin, Nayeli.
Nayeli Jamison and her cousin Haytch have always had a friendly competition for who will get the best grades ever since they were small. There have been plenty of ties.
But Nayeli has always been the only kid who said they wanted to be a rocket scientist and meant it.
She considered going to Foxbury because they have an excellent computer science program, but when she heard Britechester partnered with the Space Program, she was sold.
Obviously, her family couldn’t be more proud. Her mother Ashleigh is already a forced to be reckoned with in her own right, and her father Raheem owns a lucrative construction company.
They’re moving to Hanford on Bagley to live with her Poppa Fontaine, who’s been very lonely at the cottage since losing his wife. Raheem agreed to help him refurbish the place; he’s kind of let it go.
Nayeli loves Poppa, but frankly, she’ll be glad to be out of the way with all that construction.

Santurro Gonzales is doing his family proud as the first one in in his family to be going to university. And with a full scholarship at that.
He still can’t believe it himself.
At first, he didn’t even know what he should major in, until his stepfather Pedro encouraged him to go for computer science – it’s the perfect foundation for game development and gaming in general. Why not build a career off of what he already loves and excels at?
It’s was a rough go for Santurro - he tried so hard to be the man of the house until the MCCC Incident ™️ got his mother pregnant with his sister Blanca. Then a strange thing happened; Mona and Pedro actually liked each other and legit started dating. Once she became pregnant again with Junior, he proposed on the spot and they eloped that weekend.
Mona didn’t want leave their home at first, but Pedro convinced her it was too small now that they’d all be living together. He promised her she could renovate his home however she wanted if she would just agree to move so they could live as a real family.
Turns out he does pretty well for himself; he’s not super rich or anything, but he has way more than they ever have. And he really loves Mona and he’s been a great stepdad to Santurro. He even offered him his last name - seeing as how he never knew bio dad, he was glad to take it - especially since his siblings had it.
Now that his family is all settled in, he feels safe going off to university. The best part? He gets to room with his best friend, D.
He’ll still be checking in frequently, though.
Look at our young man! Can you believe how far he’s come? They had a family meeting, and decided D’Angelo should have the full dorm life experience at Britechester!
His sister Maricela told him she didn’t want him to miss out on that the way she did. She has no regrets for herself; she was glad to be there for her brother while he adjusted to their new life. She wants more for him, and she will make sure he has it.
And you know Ms. Tati, Abuelo Luis and Tia Benni wouldn’t miss this day for the world - they are so very proud of him. They were fully prepared to chip in for his education, but he got a full scholarship. That doesn’t mean Ms. Tati and Tia Benni won’t be sending him lots of meals - and Abuelo Luis told him not to hesitate if he needs money for anything. Seeing is how he saved up most of his tips from his deliveries, he’s feeling pretty covered.
They’ll miss him terribly, but at least they have each other.
