so you think you’ve got me figured out, why don’t you go ahead and tell me what im all about?

as a disney cast member, your favorite part of the day would have to be when you were being a character handler for the prince from snow white, prince ferdinand. however, that had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that your co-worker behind the face character was absolutely crushworthy considering...well, just about everything about him -- from the hue of his impossibly blue eyes to how even as a natural blond he still looked good in his character’s brown wig to the fact that he watched science videos before bed to the way he always seemed to stand pigeon-toed, even when in character.

on days you and luke were both scheduled at the same time, you were always his handler, and even though he was usually in character, you two often spent your breaks and lunches together and you had gotten to know him well. and okay, so maybe you did have a crush on him, but you didn’t think you could really be faulted for that since you knew weren’t necessarily the only one. to your mostly amusement (and maybe a little jealousy was involved), throughout your time being luke’s handler, you’d seen many a teenage girl -- even older women, some of which were definitely moms -- attempt to flirt with luke or slip him their number if they were one of the bolder ones. you really couldn’t blame them; even in character, luke just had this charm to him that easily made you enamored with him. still, that didn’t mean you didn’t take a little satisfaction out of when he politely rebuffed any hopeful potential suitors, always turning them down with an excuse relating to snow white -- about how he’s flattered but already happy with her, couldn’t be unfaithful to her, wouldn’t want to leave her for anyone else, etc.

being that it was currently summer and school was out, there was a fair increase in the number of females in line to meet luke. nothing significantly substantial, but you did notice an increase and how few failed to not hit on luke while they were meeting him. checking the time on your watch and realizing that luke’s current set was almost over, you figured you’d cut him a break and save him from being hit on any further by announcing that prince ferdinand had to go see snow white for a bit and would be back soon. you ignored the upset and disappointed -- even some angry -- looks, having seen them all at this point in your job, as you escorted luke backstage.

as soon as you two were out of sight from the public, luke immediately removed his wig, running a hand through his hair. you rolled your lips into your mouth to keep from showing any sign of amusement, knowing that he wasn’t the biggest fan of having to wear a wig. 

“was my set really already over or were you just doing me a favor?” he asked as you two walked to the cafeteria.

“i mean, it hadn’t been exactly 40 minutes,” you told him, “but who knows?” you paused, shrugging. “my watch could’ve been slow.”

luke laughed, throwing his head back. “you should consider correcting the time on your watch then. gotta give the people their money’s worth.” he joked, trying to make his expression one of sternness but failing, the twitch of his lips giving him away. “no, but really, thanks. honestly, i can only handle being hit on so many times within 40 minutes before i start feeling like an object.”

“besides,” he added, “there’s really only one person i’m interested in anyway.”

“oh yeah?” you wondered, forcing yourself to keep your tone as light as possible even though you were mentally trying to recall if luke had ever mentioned any girlfriend or love interest. anyone you’d ever remembered him mentioning were his three best friends, his mom and dad, his two brothers, and his dog. “and who’s that?”

“you.”
