10 First Lines Meme
Post the first line of your last 10 published fics, then tag 10 people. I was tagged by @setsailslash and @braingray! Thank you, guys!
Terms and Services (LexJay): “ ‘Bizarro is no longer of any use to me. I’ve had my lawyers draw up the papers giving you total custody.’ ” (Actually, this is dialogue from RHatO so… Lobdell wrote this. My first line is the second line, “Lex watches the two ‘outlaws’ exchange skeptical looks before they turn back to him.”)
A Love Story (JayDick): “I’m in trouble.”
Bird-Brain and Kitten (JayDick): “Dick expected Selina.”
Black Onyx & Gold (BruJay): “Bruce never tires of the view when he exits his closet (which is really more of a dressing room) in the mornings.”
Opportunity Knocks (Ra’sJay): “Jason gets separated from his family while hunting a particularly dangerous pack.”
Laid Bare (JayDick) - “He had tried.”
Finders Keepers (Slade/Robinpile): “Slade has never really considered himself a collector of any kind.”
An Empty Canvas (JayDick): “He can’t believe his eyes.”
Batman Doesn’t Smile (LukeDuke): “ ‘Why would you say I’m not the real Batman?’ ”
Waiting Game (Ra’sJay): “Ra’s al Ghul has been watching and waiting for years now.”
Wow. I write really short first lines. Some of those are just sooo bad too. Oh my god. The best one up there is actually written by Lobdell. Excuse my while I have a bit of a crisis. I will tag @m00nslippers @whumpbby @openthingsatrandom @pleasesavejasontodd (if you want) @wellthatjusthappend (if you want)... A lot of people have already been tagged by others... some people I don’t know if they like these games or not and don’t want to bother you if you don’t... if you see this and want to, then go for it and tag me (I’ll make a note to remember for next time)
I'm a few days late, but happy 46th anniversary to the Dukes Of Hazzard! The pilot "One Armed Bandits" aired for the first time January 26th, 1979 on CBS.
I grew up watching this show. It has turned into a lifelong hyperfixation and comfort media. I'm aware of its controversies and make no excuses for them. They just are. Whatever your opinions on this show are, if indeed you have any, it has gone down in entertainment history. I could essay about this show for hours but I'll spare anyone reading this for now. Suffice to say the way this show reaches across the generational divide is impressive, especially in this era so far removed from its heyday.
Season 1 Luke Duke gives depressed burnout and Season 1 Bo Duke gives ADHD bestie and you can't tell me otherwise.
My toxic trait is that I would've folded. No but Luke and Amy had SO much chemistry and I have NO ONE to talk to about it. I sincerely wish she had been a recurring character so we could've seen a relationship grow between them. Don't get me wrong, Luke's womanizing is a valid reason to dump him but their story had SUCH potential. And not even in a 'she could fix him' way because fuck that. More like 'if he knows what's good for him he'll fix himself'. I actually love the way the Amy and her definitely lesbian coded mechanic Frankie are written in this episode. They feel like real women and not just trope filler. Fun fact: this episode passes the Bechdal test. Amy and Luke are perfect for each other if we had enough time to see them grow tf up and be with each other. No one will convince me otherwise.
A little Tom and John appreciation post. This edit is a little rough with the quality of pics I had, but I couldn't help but notice this parallel of John leaning his head into Tom between the show and real life over the years.
Luke Duke is one of my all time favorite comfort characters honestly. Some of these are implied or mentioned in the show but most are just characteristics I think fit him well.
Luke Duke is one of my biggest comfort characters.
