our history teacher tried a similar tack but the theoretical scenario was "the man who invented the medicine necessary to save your wife is charging more money than you can pay and won't accept credit. you're against stealing but you also don't want your wife to die. what do you do?"

our answer was not only to steal the medicine but to murder the inventor because if he's paywalling life-saving medicine, the solution that involves the lowest body count is killing him. we're ethically and morally obligated to eliminate this threat to human survival

I see things like this, especially after the United Health Care CEO thing, and become so furious and just sad that DC has so severely misunderstood and underutilized a character literally brimming over with topical, modern significance as Jason Todd/Red Hood.

Bruce bringing Jason back to the warehouse he died at in order to try and trigger something that would have helped him get Damian back should have in my opinion really been the last straw for these two characters. I actually can't think of any way in which authors could legitimately pretendended that Bruce actually gave a shit about Jason after this point.

First off because Bruce never did that for Jason. As much as people might find excuses for it that is the truth. Jason died and Bruce didn't try and bring him back it didn't break him enough for him to break the bounds of literal life and death for him, but Damian dying did.

Second off, doing this to someone you claim you love is so violently fucked up that I don't know how you can pretend that Bruce still cares about Jason after this point. He purposefully tried to trigger him to have a mental breakdown at the place where he was killed for another child. He didn't even have the fucking decency to ask him, which Jason states he would have told Bruce whatever he knew. How do you even pretend that Jason means something to Bruce after Bruce pulls something like that?
