After realizing that their town is very vulnerable during the OoTS’s expeditions, Jesse allowed Lukas to create a team that can protect the town if things get bad. She called up old friends who were the best builders she knew. After the whole fiasco in Sky City, Gill, Maya and most importantly Aiden have changed for the better and was happy to help with Lukas’ dilemma.
The old Ocelots are now known as the Order’s Tactical Building Unit. On their usual days they build what needs to be built. While Jesse’s main group is out of town, Lukas stays behind with the OTBU and stays on the lookout for anything suspicious. They have the best weapons, a large inventory of indestructible blocks, and a portal to a safe spot in the Nether for the townspeople. Before any of them knew it, it was as if they didn’t disband in the first place.
Lukas: Well shut the front door! My sword friggin' broke! I even went an' enchanted the dadgummit crud muffin! I don't even gotta flippin' crafting table to make another! This is some Sugar Honey Ice Tea-
Jesse: *trying to take her seriously*
(I made a headcanon about Lukas trying to hide the southern accent she had. It sometimes comes out when she's mad and it sounds cute)
12 o’ clock on the dot.
Lukas peeked into the bedroom and spotted her husband putting on his briefs after leaving the bathroom from a shower. His back and hair was still wet. He was almost startled when he spotted Lukas inching in, hiding something behind her back.
“Why are you being weird?” Jesse scoffed with a relaxed expression.
“Happy birthday, wethead.” the blonde stood in the doorway. “I stayed up to tell you.”
“Thank you, babe.” after grabbing the white towel to scratch through his hair he tried approaching Lukas for a kiss.
“Hold it.” she placed a hand on his chest. “I have to give you my present.” she gestured him to the bed; Jesse chuckles.
“Is it good?” he asked. “Ivor is bringing something for me tomorrow. I’m grateful yet worried at the same time of what it might be.”
“It’ll be good.” Lukas assured. Sitting on the bed beside him she urges to cover his eyes.
“Can I get a hint?”
“I thought you were twenty-five, not a child.”
Silence ensues. Just when he was going to cheat a peek he felt something heavy squirming on his lap.
“Ok, you can look.”
The pink squealing being looked up to Jesse, nose twitching and sniffing him. There were black spots on its back and his left ear was of the same color. The brunette’s eyes were fixated on the pig with parted lips as if it was unbelievable. His hands slowly went for it, slightly trembling as he petted the creature.
“He’s really rowdy.” Lukas mentioned. “The farmer said I could take him. I played with him for a month or so, and had him smell a set of your clothes to get familiar with you. Brought him home a few hours ago and kept him in the study until now.”
He nodded; he looked as if he was in some dream state, petting the pig with a saddened expression. Lukas leaned her head in, finding his eyes. “Me, Axel and Oliva were thinking that it was time to start over, and give this another shot.”
There was a faint smile on his lips. His breath hitched, and in a matter of seconds his face was drenched in tears.
“Yeah.” was all he could say. The pig relaxed in his arms. “I know.” Then he carefully scoops it up in his left arm. The couple scoot closer and hug. “Thank you, baby.”
“No, problem, birthday boy. I love you.”
“I love you, too.” the smile grew as he examined the pig. “He’s a handsome little guy.”
“He’s very adorable.” Lukas went in to pet him. “How old do you think he is?”
“I wanna say... maybe two.”
“like a baby?”
“More like a tween.” The pig looked so natural in his arms, knowing the good spots to scratch and watch it squeal contently. He looked up and noticed Lukas wearing a silly grin. “What are you thinking about?”
“Oh nothing. Do you think he's child friendly?”
Perplexed, Jesse gave a quick thought before he spoke.
“Well, If he’s the rowdy type I can train him to be friendlier with other people, and kids.” he gave a shrug. “It’ll probably take a few months; he’s still a bit young so it’ll easier.”
Lukas hummed at the answer. “A few months is all we need.”
Jesse let the pig on the floor, letting it sniff and roam the room. He glared at Lukas with a confused expression. “A few months for what?”
She cleared her throat. “I’m just saying, If we were to have… I dunno… a cute, tiny person in our house, I would want it to be friends with the pig like you with Rueben.” she rolled her eyes playfully. “We… might be having a cute, tiny person in the house in some months.”
“I’m sorry, I don't think I follow you.” Jesse laughed nervously, as If he was trying to catch the end of a joke. After a few of her gestures with her eyes that meant think a little bit harder, you idiot, his eyes widened and his jaw could have reached the comforter if he was more shocked than what he was. He gave a gasp that Lukas swear she hadn’t heard before.
“Are you kidding me!?” his grin ate up his face, wrapping his arms around her and hugged lovingly. “We're going to have a kid? We're going to be parents!?” After letting go Jesse kissed her. It was more like a messy smooch because he was extremely geeked up.
“I'm happy you took that well.” Lukas smiled with relief. “It’s been a week since I found out, but I didn’t know how to tell you. So I waited for today.”
“I'm more than happy, Lukas. Goodness, I can't wait!”
The pig came back around and he picked it up. “Poppy here will love a little kid to play with. I would love to have a little kid.”
They hugged again. “Gosh, I love you, Lukas.”
“Love you more, Jesse.”
“This is a wonderful way to start a birthday.” After kissing her forehead he stood from the bed, trailing on. “I’m going to be a dad! What will the baby look like? I hope it has your pretty eyes, but It totally needs my cool, curly hair.” Jesse smiled softly at her relaxed and sleepy state.
“Why don't you get some sleep? I'll check if Poppy has to go to the bathroom and I'll come back and snuggle with you.”
She hummed in agreement. “That sounds good.” She gets under the comforter as Jesse puts on some clothes and calls Poppy outside the room. Lukas was surprised to have stayed up past midnight. Just when she thought of that her eyes grew heavy and before she knew it the silence lulled her to sleep.
