Today as I was coming home from a weekend in Big Sur, my friend and I stopped at Nepenthe for lunch. We went into the little shop they have there afterward, and I wandered over to the jewelry (as a daughter of Freya, of *course* I hit the jewelry first!). I turned to look behind me at a glass case full of gold necklaces, and literally, in a way I will never forget, my gaze slid down and locked onto this little leaf charm on a silver chain and the little piece of paper next to it that shows what’s written on the silver piece behind the gold tri-leaf. It says this: “A sister is a forever friend.” I was stunned and couldn’t look away. As some of you know, a year ago tonight my Sissy died.
