Vlad - Gods VS Monsters Part 3
“Viktor’s Daughter?” I said, in disbelief as I looked at him. “You married Viktor’s daughter?”
Truly, Lucian must had a death wish to marry not just any vampire, but the daughter of an elder, that was also the one that enslave him. Only kind of man, that would risk his life for a woman, mortal or immortal one, would be a man that was in love.
“Yes, Viktor’s daughter.” Lucian said, causing me to come back from my thoughts. “I know, you must find me mad, but despite all Viktor and other vampires have done, I never hold ill will against her, against Sonja.”
“He started a war, because you married his daughter?” I said, looking at the pendent he was wearing and back to him. “There’s more to it then just that, isn’t there?”
“There’s always more to even the most simple answer.” Lucian said, taking a seat in the chair and looking up at me. “Perhaps I should start from the beginning of the rise of the Lycans.”
Lucian jester me to take the seat across from him, so I did. I sat there and listen to every words he said. Words that were true, words that were painful, words of a man that was broken by love.
As my granddaughter had said, my mother was pregnant with me when she was turned. Viktor’s men had taken her, along with other Lycans into Viktor’s castle. One by one, they killed the Lycans till they got to my mother. A guard called Viktor in, when they spotted an infant, at the foot of a Lycan. That day, Viktor looked down upon me and spared me.
With each passing day, I grew stronger and faster. I was able to keep my human form, for the most part. Every full moon, I would turned into a Lycan, but soon as the moon disappear, so did the Lycan inside me.
Viktor started training me to fight. Not sure if he was training to fight, so I could learn to control my powers or so one day, I’ll fight for him. One day durning training, Viktor decided to test me by shoot an arrow at me, when my back was turned. Lucky for me, my reflexes where quick. I got the arrow and stare up at Viktor and the other vampires.
Viktor went on and on about me and the progress I was making. I stood there, watching and listening to him till a young vampire caught my eye. Sonja, Viktor’s daughter and future elder. We both stare at each other, both feeling something that we never felt before. A feeling in time, that grow more and more, to something that was called, love
After the years had past, Viktor enslave more Lycans. He did this by starving me of my food source, blood. He’ll send in a few humans into my cell at a time. The thirst would consume me and I would attack the humans, turning them into the beast I was. Viktor did this, not to build an army of Lycans but an army of immortal slaves.
Day and Night, we worked on building Viktor’s castle and I was his blacksmith, creating weapons for the vampires to use against the Lycans outside the castle walls. The walls, that my beloved Sonja always went over. Despite Viktor’s orders, she would go with the others to thin down the Lycan population.
Though they were my kin, they were mindless beast. Attacking anyone and anything that cross their path. They destroy villages throughout Viktor’s territory, which made the humans more afraid each passing day.
Sonja started going over the wall more and more to aid the humans. I love her passion to help others and do what was right, but I always fear it. I fear of losing her each time she goes over that wall, fear each time I hear the Lycans howl, fear each time, she won’t come back.
One night Sonja was on portal, alone. I could hear the Lycans howling as she rush on horseback to the castle.
As she approach the gate, I had no choice but to act. I grabbed one of the weapons and killed the Lycans that were following her. Once she got in the gate, I killed one more. As always, Sonja was calm and cold towards me, but I knew she was grateful I was there for her.
Every night we would sneak away to the cliffs near the castle. We would express our love for each other, the only way we could. We would lay there afterwards, holding each other. Talking about a life we could have outside of these walls and chains. One day we hope to be able to walk hand in hand as husband and wife, but that day never came. All because of him, Viktor.
When Viktor found out that I had took off my silver collar to aid Sonja, he begin to suspect something. Viktor being Viktor, he didn’t trust anyone’s word, even the word of his daughter. He needed answers and he got them when he bite into Sonja’s neck and drank her blood, her memories.
He became outrage when he found out about me and Sonja. Viktor didn’t care that we were in love, all he care about was his daughter, a noble vampire lay with a Lycan slave. The scandal of this, would destroy his kingdom and destroy the trust the other vampires had him in. He sentence me to death, which my darling Sonja couldn’t bare.
She found her away into the chamber I was being held and free me. We took off through the hidden pathways under the castle, but Viktor, he was one step ahead of us. He set up a trap for us, forcing us to come to the surface and fight our way out of the castle.
One by one, me and Sonja took down the vampires that charge at us. We almost made it, when Viktor showed up. Him and Sonja fought against one and another, Sonja had him defeated. We could have gone, but vampires had their blades to my neck, forcing Sonja to back down. Then she did something, that none of us coming.
“Please call off your men, for the sake of your grandchild!” Sonja said, placing Viktor’s hand on her stomach. “A miracle father. The union of the bloodlines!”
"I curse the day your mother gave her life to bring you into this world.” Viktor said, pulling his hand back and pointing in disgust. “ That thing inside you is a monstrosity!” He pulled a knife and held it to her throat. “This is over!”
I yelled for Sonja as they dragged me away. I fear what could become of my beloved Sonja and our unborn child. I fear they would be outcast and driven from Viktor’s land. Leaving her to defined herself and our child’s life against this cold heartless world. But, Viktor did something much worse than that, he commend Sonja and my unborn child, to death.
They beaten me with silver razor wipes, as Sonja was force to watch. Then, they all left leaving me and Sonja alone. We both looked at each other, when we started hearing stone being moved above us, that’s when we saw it, the sun.
“Keep your eyes on me.” I said to Sonja as the ceiling open up more. “Sonja keep your eyes on me. I love you”
"And I love you” Sonja said, looking up and back to me. “… your face will not be here when this is over will it?… goodbye my love”
I screamed her name as the sun claimed her.
I never felt more greater pain, than I did at that moment. I lost my Sonja and my unborn child. I lost my family, my life, my reason for being. I laid on the floor, crying for Sonja, crying for the woman I love.
“My love Vlad” Lucian said, with a heavy sigh. “It commend the woman I love to death. My love for her started a war because I wanted revenges for her and revenges for my people. I want them to be free from the tyranny of vampires, be free like me and my beloved Sonja always wanted to be.”
I looked at Lucian, as tears fill his eyes. I could feel is pain, because we share it. We both lost someone we love, because of someones hatred. I lost my beloved Mirene and he lost his beloved Sonja.
“Do you think.” I said, finally speaking up. “That you’ll find away to end this war?”
“I already have Vlad.” Lucian said, with a small smile. “Love started this war and love, will end it.” Lucian’s gaze went from my face to behind me.
I took in all what Lucian had said, as I turned to follow his gaze. This war, that I found myself now in, was another pointless war. A pointless war that I was willing to fight, for her, for Adelaide.
