the minute he stepped foot in the falcon, luke knew it would be different.

yes, sometimes, when he felt himself losing grip on all he had been, luke closed his eyes and dug his feet into the damp ground, pretending it was, instead, miles and miles of scalding tatooine sand, and suddenly, he was back in a place he had once called home, could practically hear aunt beru’s persistent calls of dinner, luke, time for dinner, could almost feel the suns beating against his neck but-

solace was found there, in between the biting nostalgia, a comfort in knowing it all so intimately, in not truly wishing he could go back, and that was what made the difference.

the falcon was still the same, a hunk of metal that had survived a war or two and so on, but once inside, he did not feel himself being transported back to those simpler days, with han yelling at him to take his damn feet of the dashboard, the carefree smile on his lips betraying his fondness, and luke would laugh, they both would, oh, they all would, the three of them, han and leia and luke and-

i did!! uhhh one of the chars i created this year was kennedy campbell!! she’s in the novel i’m currently writing and she’s a v closeted lesbian and she’s in luv w her best friend who she thinks doesn’t love her back (but she does) and she’s vulnerable and aloof and clever and i’d rly die for her
