Blue Light Special by Tony Via Flickr: Each year, the Buffalo Botanical Gardens put on a nighttime light spectacular, creating otherworldly scenes by dropping wildly-colored lights on their already evocative plants. Photographed here is an agave leaf tip against thicker agave stalks in the background. Ancient Mayans used to use the thorns of these plants in bloodletting rituals, and even made an alcoholic drink--called pulque--from its juice!
