🏳️ - Favorite way you have described something in your works
I have a lot of fun being a bit flowery with my descriptions, but actually one of my favorite descriptions ever doesn't actually have a home within a fic, it's a character description for c!Phil that I wrote at random one day, purely because I love writing about character appearances.
In fact, here's the whole thing, since I'll never find any other place to put it:
He looked like a man caught in the late summer of his life, just beginning to be weathered by the autumn winds, crows feet and freckles from the August sun stamped around his eyes and the apples of his cheeks. Instead of the crispness of spring, long-limbed and ungainly with wild, leaping youth, he was soft like a meadow turning gold, and the wildness in him was like the stretching shadows under red trees at dusk.
It almost made him seem more believably mortal. Fables and rumor made a person think of a strong young man with brilliant eyes, somehow ageless and yet new as May with a sharp jaw and too many teeth to his grin. You weren’t expecting a man with pale, sleepy eyes, a slightly crooked smile, and a soft face.
It's hard to believe that a man like that, with his September grin and October laugh, full-bellied and yet cackling with mischief, is older than the ages. But at the same time, once you get to know him just a little bit, you will realize that it's not so hard at all. When you look deep enough, when he draws back that leaves-turning-gold veneer and allows you to see, his eyes are winter clear.
His body and manner are deceptively on the cuff of middle-aged, warm at the change of seasons with wide blue skies sprawling across his horizon, but his heart is autumn and winter. He's lived through each season and relived them again, over and over as eternity stretches ahead of him, December solstice drawing out the night into a sea of winking stars.
