thinking abt it Tav, Fryn, and Torreen are all incarnations of the “living weapon” trope
Tav lives only for Mirys and she LOVES it, so much so that everyone in the Sealed City is as good as dead as soon as she wakes up. She can’t be reasoned with and can’t be STOPPED bc the magic that sustains the city and everyone in it is literally in love with her. sealed for 1000 years, awake but frozen, until the only thing left was love.
Fryn is basically a walking talking foil for every other Knight in the story. She comes into ultimate power by accident, and is handed everything she needs to become the main villain of the overall story. She doesn't bc her revenge is so laser focused on three specific people. literally sustained by violence and bloodshed, but surpisingly chill abt it.
and Torreen is stripped of her identity basically from birth, certainly before she is able to even know who she was before. a replacement baby, a changeling who just wants to be the real thing, finally granted purpose on the battlefield. called home, told the truth, and then gets killed by an assassin that was aiming for her brother. resurrected by the sheer force of her rage and destroys shit so hard that she becomes mythologized as the Devil.
