And I’ll be honest; I very much took inspiration from Ragapom in Episode 3 of The Amazing Digital Circus when writing Luz and Emira's little heart-to-heart during the midway point of the script. I just think the pressure of being the one to keep the peace, the desire to have your effort be recognized and seen and validated, and so you’re nice to someone hoping they’ll return the favor, while also genuinely caring about them because of course you do, it’s just it can get kinda self-destructive… These aren’t exclusive to romantic connections, this can be universally applied to any type of relationship.
…In fact I might’ve injected a little too much of Ragapom into Luz and Emira’s interactions and now it’s made me lowkey consider Lumira as a ship, as I did give Luz and Emira something in common, people who are into body horror and the grotesque, but also forget themselves as they constantly focus on others, and worry too much about living up to their role as the helper, only for them to remind one another that maybe they can do their own thing for themselves and are just as loved and appreciated for it. Em has the capacity to be a straight man in a purely figurative sense but they both like causing trouble and hit it off together doing that. Luz thinks Em is the coolest kid ever and then finds out Em thinks the same of her too.
