Today's 123 Rhodes Island Translation(no.52). Today is Lunacub! dog girl + wolfgirl friendship
Today's translation was pretty tough. With Amiya's big introductory onboarding speech. It wasn't a pain to understand, just hard to parse into English. So I kinda just tried to make it as close as possible while also sounding like a boring onboarding session.
The only big thing of note was that I changed the SFX for that comic from just "wake up" to "jolts awake" because I think it just fits the illustration more.
Comic 2 was when it got really tough since the first 2 narration bubbles actually include some slang in them. The original sentence is 总之,去仓库整点用的
整点 literally means the whole point, so it can be used in decimals or math, so literally It means "in short, goes for the whole reason of useful things" but that's not very good. I asked someone else and apparently, the sentence could also mean "goes to get useful things" so I guess here the context is king ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Also 总之 can mean anyways to the point of confusing the person I asked into thinking that they were thought bubbles.
So yeah all in all a mess of a translation, the final panel is actually more straightforward comparatively. The line about the doctor's snacks was originally "the doctor's snack storeroom was emptied" and while 后勤 人员 literally means logistics team, it also more accurately means support staff so I just went with that
As always I am not a professional, this is just to help me practice Chinese. If you wanna share it on other sites or use my translations feel free to as long as you credit me.

So I've seen a lot about the six stars on the current banner but next to nothing about the five star... Is Lunacub just that bad? I wanna raise her cause she seems cute but I don't want to waste mats on an op who doesn't have any real uses
She's not bad, it's just that she's not good enough overall compared to other Deadeyes. It's a matter of expectation versus practicality, since she goes against the grain of her class, resulting in a unit that is not a good Deadeye by Deadeye standards, but does other things, kind of like how April is a "Marksman" except not really, so she's bad if judged by Marksman standards, but performs well in her niche. Even then, however, what Lunacub brings to the table is not particularly essential, meaning she's a fun unit first and foremost.
To put that in more practical terms, Lunacub has permanent Camouflage as long as her skill isn't active, and can have bursts of Camouflage during Skill 2 if she gets kills during it. Now, the main thing with Lunacub is that her S2 does not provide her any Attack up, instead boosting her ASPD considerably. This makes her a great light enemy killer... Which is what I meant up there: That's weird for a Deadeye, because Deadeyes are characterized by heavy, long range blows meant to, yes, help with lanes and kill weaker enemies first with their special targeting, but mainly to hit the heavier enemies after mopping the weaker enemies for very safe, very considerable damage from safe and unobstructive tiles (for example, Artilleryman/Splash Caster/Centurion + Deadeye is a standard formation to deal with elites that have a lot of mobs around them).
Lunacub is not good at this -- At being a Deadeye -- compared to others, especially to the easily acquired and cheap Ambriel, because she'll struggle to keep up with the DPS of other Deadeyes on heavier foes. She has a bit over 1000 attack maxed out, which deals with DEF well, numerically, but the other Deadeyes' Skills give them such big steroids that even with all those extra attacks, Lunacub kind of fails to justify the investment.
Now, again, that's looking at it as "Lunacub as a Deadeye". Due to her Camouflage quirk, Lunacub can be a very effective lane thinner. You can safely put her close to where enemies will be going through, and then eliminate large swathes of them with S2, and assuming she's getting consistent kills, she'll keep Camouflage up, making it a safe strat. Now, the problem is, S2 has rather bad cyclcing: It's a 50 charge skill, active 25 seconds. That's... Very expensive for what's a glorified trash mob clearing skill. You can go with her generic steroid S1, but then... Why are you using Lunacub? So she's in this sort of weird, awkward spot where, yes, she does have a place in a strategy, but one that's easily fulfilled in a ton of other far more effective ways.
She's not bad or unusable, she simply is awkward in practical terms. She's the Deadeye that's not a Deadeye, much like April is the Marksman that's not a Marksman. So if you use Lunacub not as a Deadeye, but as Lunacub, then yeah, you'll get results. Can you get better results from other units and methods? Yeah definitely, even 4*s, but if you want to use Lunacub? Yeah she'll work. Use Her If You Like Her out of ten.
