Arknights: A1 Operations Preparation Detachment Chapter 10 Release!

Woah! The series is finally completed! I managed to actually typeset within that 1-2 month time frame I set myself! But thanks for sticking with me on this journey that took like 2-3 years.

I thank you all for giving your patience to this inexperienced, unmotivated, undisciplined translator with 0 typesetting skills.

As for the extra chapters I'll try to translate them, but since the old group actually is working on translating stuff, Idk if I'll be first. (haha)

If they do do it before I do, please check them out on mangadex, I'll still do them for practice sake, but for better quality just check them out.

After that I'm planning on doing the Rhodes Island wandering division next, and after that IDK.

A lot of the new stuff is translated already so if you have a recommendation, just send me a DM I guess, I probably won't respond but I'll try to at least look at it.

I did say I would do this like a year ago, but then I picked up like 3 more hobbies and started writing a campaign so yeah. Unforch

I really tried to clean up the images at first but they're stored as JPGs on the website and that makes color matching look really really bad :(

123 Rhodes Island: Alanna

Honestly just a really fun character, love her kit even if its a little on the weaker side + I just liked to the grinning valley story. It was nice seeing Savage with Amiya again as one of 4 Savage users.

BTW for the bold text Alanna's saying Spatula.

Love this girl!!! Use her every map!!! I have my M6Mod3 Tsukinogi stapled to my support ops and i love her even if nobody uses her.

Page 2 on this one is kinda tricky. its a lot of text and also there's just a lot that doesn't really flow well in English.

Closure in pannel 1 page 2 actually says something on the lines of "There's nothing greedy about this" but I had to cut it since it would bloat the bubble even more and it didn't fit into the sentence well at all.

another thing is that in the bg text for panel 2 it really says something more on the lines of "Elf magic clubhouse" its 精灵(jing1ling2 elf)妙妙屋 which is a reference to Micky Mouse's clubhouse [米奇老鼠妙妙] but this is the handle muleseyes uses. It appears in her 123 Rhodes island comics. I wanted to keep the elf part really badly but I couldn't really think of anything + I had a very limited amount of space so I just went with some fitting alliteration instead.

123 Rhodes Island: Mint

I'm really collecting these D tier popularity operators huh. I just think they're neat kit and personality wise. I can relate to getting distracted very easily by your special interests and that pissing everyone else off.

Some TL notes

I don't really have a lot to say TL wise tbh I gotten better at reading Chinese so a lot of it isn't as confusing or surprising anymore.

In Chinese here Mint does call her arts device her baby/ child 孩子 . I didn't really know if she calls her book that in the game, I couldn't find it anywhere in her files or dialogue so I wasn't super sure.

Another thing is that Skyfire in page2 panel 1 actually says like "I also don't want to get mad all the time too" but it kinda sounded awkward like that (to me atleast I'm not the best judge of grammar and syntax) So I ended up changing it.

Anyways interesting Chinese facts wise is that the characters for secret [秘密] is pronounced mì mì and I just think that's funny and also the phrase for "Fire Extinguisher" is 灭火器(pinyin miè huǒ qì) which literally means fire extinguishing weapon . I think we should call every day items weapons every once in a while.

123 Rhodes Island: Vulcan

Another one, seeing Vulcan and Ceobe together got me super motivated. I still love using her even if her role of defensive statstick isn't really that good anymore. (it also helped that Ceobe is really easy to translate)

Also fun fact the og text for page 2 panel 2 says 七七四十九天。 四十九天 means 49 days but chinese adds 77 to the front which mean 7*7 since this was a way of explaining a lot of time in ancient texts.

Update Post If you want one

Its your niche micro celebrity back with an update, I've been doing better since the last post, I just haven't been translating lol. The official one coming out just really took the wind out of my sails + I've been trying to practice speaking chinese more irl.

I just don't really like using social media a lot so I just tend not to post unless i find something interesting to share so if I don't update for a month+ on either account that's prolly why.

Minor Update

since someone posted their translation of chapter 7 about 2 months ago on mangadex I decided to just post mine on there too. The Pooce there is me but it should be a little more convenient to read the series now.

In other news CH 10 is almost fully translated , so if I keep up this pace it should come out by next month or so. I’ll be posting it on both here and mangadex since I finally made an account, but since mangadex takes about half a day or so to put them on the page, the people here will get access to them slight sooner if that’s anything to go by.

I thank you for all your patience over these last 2 years for me slowly translating the remaining chapters. Though we still have a little bit left since we have the 2 extra side chapters .

UPDATE:

I talked with the translator of the current group that returned to translate ch7 and I will only be posting my translations here. There isn’t any bad blood it’s more just that they wanted to work on ch10 now that I posted 8 and 9, and posting on mangadex was more of a whim than anything. Sorry for any misunderstanding. Please support them when they release their translations, their work is much better than mine.
