She immediately stopped tearing up the moment she realized there was someone else but her. When was she there? Had she been there the entire time, and she didn’t realize it? It was embarrassing how emotional she got about herself-- depression was certainly not something she could escape. If anything, however, she could still pretend and make up an excuse for it.
“Well you see...” Her voice trailed off a bit. Her smile then appeared, a playful one.
“I was only thinking about... how all the chocolate in the store was sold out! I was planning on buying a few for my family, but ah-- what a disappointment!”
