Victor's Invite to the Graduation Ceremony

"You want me to attend the academy's graduation ceremony? Do you know how much you're asking of me right now?"

Of all the odd requests Aemeath could ask of him... Somehow, she always finds a way to top herself. This week's feature: a request he attend Startorch Academy's upcoming graduation ceremony. And right away, the problems spiral in his head.

Discounting his distaste for the masses, would he even be allowed in? At best he could pretend he was a parent, but that wouldn't hold up under any sort of scrutiny. And even if he did get in, if seats are assigned, he's doomed. And these were just the surface level flaws; he could build a mountain with all the issues he thought of if he kept going.

His answer's final-- there is no way he's going to attend this ceremony.

"Is that a no...?" Aemeath's lip quivered as her eyes glistened from her crocodile tears. "It'd mean the world to me if you did..."

Damn it. If he weren't marooned on another planet and missing his daughter plenty, he'd shrug her pouty face off no problem. But Victor is both those things, and he can feel his heartstrings tugging as he superimposes Elle on top of this performance.

Guess his "final" answer wasn't final after all...

"Fine. I'll try to attend," Now it's his turn to pout. "But don't expect any miracles; if I get push back, I'm not looking to leave my mark on this planet with charges."

All of Aemeath's grief and sadness melt away as she thanks him and promises he'll love it in the end. Victor has half a mind to debate that, but he won't. Still, if he's doing this, he'll have to think of a good cover story in three days time.

This graduation better be worth all the trouble.
