At the end of the first act, Rudolph wants to break it off with Mary before it gets too serious, to protect her from his political enemies. He is almost like a sullen child, disappointed with how things are turning out - and she manages to convince him of her love, their love, during a powerful love song, during a magical snowfall, and ending with a passionate kiss where Rudolph seems to find succour inMary’s arms. . Except that tonight Luna seemed to be on the verge of sobbing. I don’t know if it was acting, but knowing that she attended Jonghyun’s memorial yesterday seemed to imbue the scene with so much more power than i had felt the first day. . It was then that i realised the enormity of the scenes they would have to enact in the second half, and i guess so did the audience, because the atmosphere seemed to deepen, and by the finale, i felt waves of love and support from the audience.
