It’s a Staff Meeting!

Thankfully, this one was catered with a few snacks here and there. And once everyone had filed in, the tailor began. A hologram popped up on the central table for everyone to view.

“Alright. So, we’ve about come to the end of the month, and I have a few matters to discuss. First and foremost...”

“...You’ve all done a superb job--much better than I expected since that odd bout of activity in that fantasy world about a month ago. All of you have worked very hard, despite the jarring change. So as a thank-you, I’ve gotten into contact with the Golden Dawn Resort. As long as you present your worker’s badge to the front desk, you should be able to pick one of the spa treatments on the Silver list free of charge. I would recommend a visit before the end of the year.

“Next, we have a couple new employees who will be working with us, so please welcome them and answer any questions they may have if I’m not around.

“Thirdly, thank you to everyone that ran the booth in Archimedes during the festival--you’ll be compensated for your time. If anyone cares to help stick around and dismantle it with me, I would appreciate the help.

“And finally, we still have a bit of summer left to go, so keep the theme in mind. Light clothes, swimsuits, raincoats--I’m sure you all know.”

With a satisfied nod, Iori closed the hologram, and gave a bow to his team.

“Thank you all again for your excellent work. I’m humbled, but not at all surprised at your work and determination. But, I’ve held your attention long enough. So--dismissed!”

quaint as it was, the soft swirling and churning of the pond water was but only a brief solution to one weaving and bobbing boredom which had struck the ascian when he had least want for it. in such a vast and curious place, would it not have suited his inquisitive nature to abscond and observe as a wide-eyed child might? perhaps he might have, had the heat of the day not taxed him to the brink of his mind’s capacity to care for whimsical visits about the island and its tourist hot spots.

so instead he sat, eyes following the vanishing of the koi, the sun a burning amber after its most recent eclipse. a sigh saw his shoulder slump ( far more than usual ) and his eyes close for a moment. such a dull affair when there was so much else he ought to do instead. he had hoped for some shred of the first or even the source to rear its head, but to little avail had such wanting rewarded him.

despite existing seemingly upon another star entirely, far from the shards and broken remnants of the realm he had known, something wavered slightly. it beckoned and it pushed back, resisting him yet calling all the same. odd. he did not choose to block it out but rather instead he waited. eyes still watching the fish, he did not seem to be minding much at all besides the aquatic life but indeed he remained in wait. something approached. someone disturbed the peace.

how interesting, thought the being so ancient that such a peculiar feeling in a land so foreign, was simply divine. and that feeling only grew. oh yes, it blossomed. sure enough, a few moments later and a woman appeared within the dim light of dusk; slipping between shadows as she made her way past the ponds.

“ ah, just a moment if you will... “ and so he rose, intrigued enough to actually stand. the cooler air of night was a welcome change, at least. turning to face the woman — oh, indeed... that was quite a surprise. but sure enough, the aether swirled.

Letting her heart go was freeing, but having her human body back was exhilarating in an entirely different way. It’s as though she’s forgotten what it felt like to exist in her own skin.

Her fingers can certainly operate a phone more efficiently now that they aren’t metal; The charge on the battery is dwindling, so Orianna decides to try and share her excitement with someone before she loses her ability to contact them.

She stops sending messages before she gets to rambling, and takes a photo of herself. It will last longer than the transformation, and she can keep it to provide people she meets with necessary context for her state of existence.

It’s quite something to see the girl she used to be smiling back at her from the screen.

It’s night when he takes his walk. Yomiel thinks best when it’s darker outside, when he can look up and see the stars and even if he can’t feel the chill of the air, just the knowledge of it helps ‘trick’ his mind into remembering that comfort.

Ten damn years and his brain is still fooled by the darkness.

He’s staring up at the sky and almost completely oblivious to anyone around him. Why should they care he exists, anyway? Not that he really does exist at all.

He keeps peering at the stars, and if anyone were to approach? It’s fairly unlikely he’d notice unless they interacted with him.

It shattered their mood completely, walking past her. And while Anda had no inkling of who she was--this complete stranger--something did feel familiar about her. Like despair, settling into place like it belonged there.

That was the woman who shattered her soul.

“...Um--excuse me! Wait!”

Doubling back around, Anda moved to catch up with this miserable woman... and held out a purple box of chocolate.

“Uh...” ...Easier done than said. “Here. These are for you.”

SHE REMEMBERS LIKE IT WAS yesterday. how could one forget the foolishness of others in that forlorn city, eyeing someone as if they were simply something to be bought, and how swift she was to dispatch them for running their mouths without a tinge of remorse. yet it is not this which draws her to the other this time, instead intrigue flashing within golden eyes at what she can sense. there was no hiding the rancid energy she exudes, clinging to her as if it nothing more than natural and far too similar to the disturbance she felt upon the island not so long ago. even now she knows well the names that seep from it (spite and ire to feed the flames of hell, was it not?) when it all had come and gone like some fleeting dream.
