there is sooo much happening here but imma focus on illumi & the zoldyck family
this scene is where it starts to seem like illumi has a pretty wide margin within his family. there is quite a bit that he is allowed to do and/or quite a few orders and obligations that he deliberately does not follow (and perhaps hides his deviance). and despite this devolving into a intrafamily fight (silva v kikyo v killua v illumi), killua mentions that if his dad hadnt wanted him to leave with alluka, he simply wouldnt have been able to. so it is actually more like killua is given a fine line to walk and it is really (silva v kikyo v illumi) the others fighting over how fine the line need to be.
so
illumi is almost on par with his parents. which makes some sense, he is much older than his other siblings (7y older than milluki, only 22/18y younger than silva/kikyo).
i find this fascinating.
it builds this interesting character profile of someone who is not actually super tied to family rules. illumis #1 priority is the safety to The Zoldycks as individuals and as a family. but he will go about that however he sees fit.
hisoka did not need to know about alluka, or how her powers worked for his part in this mission. illumi told him simply because he wanted to.
this fits with a previous thought i had, that illumi does not care about methods, only results. rules mean nothing to him so long as he can secure the same result. in this case, safety for The Zoldyck Family. he will tell hisoka whatever he wants, because he trusts him and thinks he can handle him if he becomes a problem.
