Welcome to the dark side! Due to the fact that the Moon is tidally locked with Earth, we only see on side of our natural satellite. . While that is usually referred to as the near side that has been heavily explored (top panel), the far side is sometimes referred to as the “dark side.” However, that does not imply that it does not experience any sunlight, or that it draws power from the raw emotions of anger, aggression, hate or fear. Rather the “dark side” of the Moon is only refers to the fact that it is unseen from Earth. . The dark side or the far side of the Moon has seen increased exploratory efforts due to the fact that earlier satellite 🛰 reconnaissance missions revealed water ice in the shadows of some of its craters near the South Pole. . Recently out of the three nations (Israel, India, and China) that have tried to explore the far side, only the Chang’e-4 managed to land safely. . The far side of the Moon will continue to see more exploration as we strive forward in establishing future colonies there. .
