OK LISTEN LIKE…….. putting their relationship into words is kind of difficult actually, because the kind of friendship lapis and hakuno has is. idk it’s different than what the form lays out, you know what i mean? at least from lapis’ point of view. hakuno doesn’t put up with their shit which they don’t appreciate on a surface level but they really, really need it and they know that. they don’t like being pushed back but if it has to happen, they’re glad she’s the one to do it
she’s also pretty much the first person to actually be kind to them, to care what they think and seek their happiness, and they’re not used to that. they buck against it on reflex but when it comes down to it, she’s going to leave a lasting impression on them in a way no other mages they’ve come into contact with ever did. lapis loves her. they love her with everything that they are, because she showed them kindness they didn’t even know existed; for that, they’d do anything for her.
that might sound a little cluttered but it’s really hard to emphasize just how much they love her. the way i see their relationship going, it’s not so much “family” as it is “a reason to keep existing.” i forget if i told you lapis’ wish but they want to erase their own existence; with a little more development, though, i can see them changing their wish to just. wishing for her happiness. wishing to be with her, because she showed them what happiness feels like.
