Feels like Christmas || Ember & Gene
As much as Ember hated Christmas time, she was cheery for the sake of their daughter who was clinging to her hand like she would float away into the snow spattered sky. Crouching down, she scooped the child up and rested her on her hip with her coffee in her free hand. The cold had the same effect as too much sun, and Ember was getting slightly tired and a yawn took over before she felt small hands over her mouth. "Wes has lots to do, momma. No tired yet. Have to get daddy's present." A small chuckle and Ember nodded, "That we do, baby girl. But I need to figure out what daddy wants first." What does someone get a genie for Christmas? It wasn't as if she could get him a new lamp or anything. Usually she was good at this type of thing despite despising the holiday. "Daddy said he wants a day without... without" Their daughter was thinking hard about the word, "sassing?" A confused look furrowed her features. "What's that mean, momma?" "Means daddy's sleeping in the lamp again." She murmured with a smirk and a shake of her head as they climbed the stairs to their shared apartment. Once she set the girl down, she all but bolted to the front door and flung it open with the small bag in her hand. "Daddy! Momma says you hafta sleep in the lamp again!" Her voice rang out.
