Sesame Street Bars

My uncle Rick made a version of these bars last year. I’m not sure what they’re called but I’ve decided to roll with Sesame Street Bars because of all the random ingredients in the mix.

These are great to make for lunches because they’re a good source for energy, they're no bake, and easy to make! Be careful though as easily addictive.

You’ll need

3/4 cup sesame seeds

3/4 cup sunflower seeds

1/2 cup raw mixed nuts

1/2 cup  dry coconut

4 cups cornflakes, crushed

125 grams butter

1/2 brown sugar

1/4 cup honey 

Get two fry pans going at a moderate heat. You’re going to toast the first four ingredients in these pans separately (as cooking time varies and if you don’t do this half the ingredients will be burnt to a crisp while the others will have a nice tan look about them).

Transfer these to a large bowl. 

Add crushed cornflakes.

Get a medium saucepan going at a moderate heat, add butter, sugar and honey. stir until melted and you get a nice caramel texture. Remove from heat. Add to bowl and mix well. 

Press into tin firmly. Leave to cool completely before cutting to size. Makes about 15 bars. Store in an air tight container.
