“Lady Josephine, right? You are new here at court, aren’t you?” Lady Jane, one of the Queen’s ladies-in-waiting, was generally known as one of the most sociable ladies at court, a lively young lady, albeit too impetuous at times. Still, now it did not matter. The Lady Josephine was not a potential husband, after all, but a potential friend instead. Unlike her father, she did not follow the same line of pure pessimism. People were only potential enemies as long as you did not try to turn them into friends instead.
Maybe that’s why Lady Jane had chosen to approach the woman first. Being a stranger was never easy, no matter where, but even less so when you were at court, surrounded by people who thought of little but their own advantage. Making friends... friends who would not stab you in the back immediately... could be difficult... and even now, Jane had no way to tell whether this Lady was not just one of the same sort.
“I heard you are a good rider. I would love to join you one day, if you ever find yourself lacking company in the field. I too adore spending time on horseback.”
