It was his scent that had told him what Remus was; he was a child of the moon and in his eyes that meant he was someone who needed protection from those who wished him harm, but he could tell his kind words hadn't exactly been viewed in the best light by how quickly he downed his drink in practically one gulp and the way he deliberately avoided making eye contact with him. His hand wraps around his wrist in a tight grip as soon as he sees him stand up to leave the premises.
❝ I'm sorry I didn't mean to offend or make you think I was pitying you. I wasn't but I can see now that it probably sounded that way. What I was trying to say is you have a friend in me, Remus. ❞ He liked it when people figured out he was more than human, that there was something monstrous lurking under his skin, as it meant he could finally drop the act of appearing to be normal and let his true eldritch nature shine through yet it seemed Remus only wanted people to see the man, not the monster lurking underneath his skin. He wasn't sure what to make of Remus's refusal to embrace his inner wolf but he wasn't going to judge him over it because everyone was allowed to live the life they want regardless of what others may think. ❝Won't you stay for one more drink? I want to make amends for offending you, that is, if you will give me the opportunity to do so. ❞
