I think that Miles makes a report and during the salary review Miles' complaints (and praise if any) are taken into account. He can't actually reduce Gumshoe's salary himself.

♡ - romantic headcanon

greg fell hard and fast for chamomile, and even after.....everything.....still hasn’t-- quite-- stopped loving her. he doesn’t really regret how it ended, though. not if not breaking it off for good meant he might have lost his boy. 

☠ - angry/violent headcanon

greg’s chilled out a lot from when he was younger, and professionalism and a desire to live up to his lawful good ideals managed to win out over punching assholes in the face but.......well, manfred von karma. 

▼ - childhood headcanon

when he was nine he first picked up a battered old copy of “to kill a mockingbird”, which only got more and more battered as the year progressed because he dragged that thing everywhere.

Amni'zak AU: "I grew up drinking German beer" Miles and "I've spent a quarter of a century drinking Khura'inese bootleg liquor" Greg somehow end up having a drinking competition. Neither of them is quite sure who made the challenge and the winner is unclear given that by the end neither of them can successfully count their own legs, let alone how many they've each had. Phoenix and Ray did not expect to end their night caring for dead drunk, and later hungover, Edgeworths.

both edgeworths are really hardcore too like that was not an insignificant amount of alcohol they consumed

What about a Greg Lives AU where Manfred and Gregory have to do a version of 2-4? Greg's client, much to his horror, is guilty, but their accomplices kidnapped 20-yo-Miles and 13-yo-Fran (or even 9yo Miles and 2yo Fran just to make it worse) to ensure Manfred throws the case and Greg defends the guilty - which goes against the grain for both of them, but it's their kids LIVES at stake and I doubt Manfred would be willing to sacrifice Fran, even for his beloved perfect record.

okay to be honest i disagree, i think if it came down to manfred’s perfect record or franziska he’d throw franziska under the bus to salvage it? like...........i do not think manfred is even the bare minimum of a good person 2 not fuck over his young daughter for his own selfish personal reasons. 

for max “farewell, my turnabout” angst ft. greg the better prosecuting attorney to go with would probably be byrne, who has a kid he probably would throw a case for & a detective boyfriend too raise hell 2 get the kids back.
