Dimitri wasn’t surprised that Leon didn’t have a proper education. Most people with Leon’s skills that were educated went on to be software designers, working for legitimate companies. For Leon to be one of the most sought after hackers in the criminal underworld, something had to have happened in his life to lead him on that dark path, but Dimitri wouldn’t pry. The duras was only able to tell Leon the basic summary of his own past because he knew the human would never believe him. Dimitri had no desire to dig into someone else’s wounds, when he himself avoided his own. The tattoo artist tended to protect himself through denial and humor, something that seemed to fit their relationship just fine, as they both enjoyed their friendly banter. The other’s comment about his records had the artist scoffing. “I was trying to make myself seem as boring and inconspicuous as they come, so no one would think to look twice at them, but I’m sure you could have done a much better job,” he grinned back at the other, “And, you’re right. Anyone who met me would instantly know I could never be boring.” He shook his hips once and winked at Leon to emphasize his point.
Going back to subject of the tattoo Dimitri tuned down the joking for his serious tone. “Most of the time such a tattoo is priced hourly, but since this a medium sized tattoo with no color on the shoulder, I can safely say it should take an absolute maximum of four hours, which was the original estimate I gave you. I charge 14,000 yen, or $125 in US dollars, per hour. You pay a deposit up front for the price of one hour, and at the end you get your deposit back. If there needs to be multiple sessions, after each one you pay for the time spent during that session and book for the next one. The deposit is in place to make sure you actually show up and don’t waste a tattoo artist’s time, if you flake on an appointment. You’d be surprised at how many people don’t actually show up for their appointments.” Dimitri shook his head exasperated at the end. He had to deal with such annoying clients before, though they were at least better than the ones who nagged him to death about every detail instead of trusting him to do his job as an artist.
