Lustration, derived from the Latin word lustratio, refers to a ritual purification or cleansing, often associated with religious or ceremonial practices. It can also denote the removal of individuals associated with a discredited political regime from public office, a practice often used in transitional justice.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
1. Purification Rituals:
Lustration, in its original context, involves ceremonial purification through rituals and ceremonies.
These rituals often involve water or other substances like blood or clay, and may include complex ceremonies and confessions.
Examples include the Roman lustration, which involved a circular procession to ward off evil.
2. Political Lustration:
This aspect of lustration involves removing individuals from public office who are deemed to have been involved in wrongdoing or associated with a previous, oppressive regime.
This can include vetting individuals for their past conduct, dismissing those credibly accused of corruption or human rights violations, and banning certain individuals from holding public office.
It's a tool used to restore credibility to a government by removing those associated with past abuses.
This is different from decommunization, which focuses on removing communist symbols and barring former officials from office.
Lustration in Central and Eastern Europe, for example, often targets individuals who collaborated with communist secret police.

i think the reason why the fic is getting harder to write is bc i’m writing it in first person, so necessary details almost always have to come from dialogue and i’m trying to avoid exposition monologues
also idk how to write forcefem. or like. at all actually now that i think about it :/
feeling bad about my fic again. i’m probably just being hard on myself, it’s still technically a rough draft.
oh boy we writing (nearly doubling the word count with just one chapter)
should i change this url to my ao3 tag
also, update on lustration: feeling really down today and while trying to brainstorm the next half (third?) of the fic i’m realising that i have no hope of writing anything that i actually like after this point. aspera wrote act one with very little affini stuff and acts two and three will obv be affini centric and i don’t think either of us can write affini correctly? at least not as well as i want. also, my fic plan has virtually no kink and zero horny anything so far so like. it would be boring to read for the setting.
so essentially, lustration might be dead purely bc we didn’t power thru and write it all in one go, the motivation has been lost as i predicted
