MASTERLIST
Light singing fills the air, flowing with the breeze that brushes through the boughs of the trees above. You lay among the niphredil, staring up at the blue sky visible through the leaves, and the sunlight streaming through the gaps between them. Soft feet rustle the grass and the flowers nearby, the light dancing with her as she moves. It’s as if its drawn to her, lighting about her like a halo.
The singing stops, footsteps swishing through the flowers before the sunlight above you is blotted out. A body sinks down beside yours, leaning over you where you lay.
“I thought you were supposed to be watching me.” Her voice flows over you like the breeze, light as bells chiming.
“I can still hear you.” You say, smiling up at her.
Lúthien matches your smile, her fair face lighting up as she stares down at you tenderly. Her fingers trace your face, soft and smooth and gentle as she touches you. Your skin prickles where she touches, hardly able to believe someone so beautiful would have any interest in you.
“Do you find the sky more thrilling to look upon?” She asks, her thumb tracing your lips.
“No,” you say, pressing a kiss to her thumb. “There is nothing that could match your beauty in all the world. But you know that.” You take her hand, pressing a kiss to her knuckles before holding it against your chest. “You know you always have my heart.”
You stare up at her face, into those beautiful eyes. They shine like stars, warm and comforting in a world so dark. While your home remains mostly untainted by the darkness beyond the forest, it’s hard to deny the news of the outside world. It scares you, the looming threat of Morgoth. You trust in your queen to keep your home safe, though, and she trusts in you to keep her daughter safe.
No one knows the truth of what the two of you do in your private time together, which is often.
You reach a hand up, tucking some of her dark hair behind her ear. You let your fingers linger on her face, tracing her features, her smooth skin, the beauty she radiates. The fairest of all of Ilúvatar’s children. It is no lie. It feels like a privilege to look upon something so fair and light. To have her favor...you feel not worthy of such a privilege either. She would call you ridiculous for thinking such a thing.
Lúthien leans into your touch, pressing a kiss to your palm as you cup her cheek. Her skin is warm from the sun, soft under your calloused fingers. Your sword lays at your side, the sharp blade glinting in the sun. It’s all but forgotten as you stare up at the unfathomable beauty above you, the one whom you love.
She leans down, closing the space between you as she presses a soft kiss to your lips. It’s chaste and sweet, the taste of the lemon cakes the two of you ate earlier still on her lips. You sink your fingers into her dark hair, the strands like the finest silk against your skin. It creates a curtain around the two of you as you pull her closer, kissing her harder.
She sighs against your lips, pulling away for just a moment. You stare into her eyes, lost in those intense depths. They speak of her power, her strength, her beauty. They’re alluring, and there’s a softness to them as she looks at you. They lull you into a sense of safety, a sense of peace. The world outside might be dark, but in this forest, the two of you are safe. You will do your best to ensure that.
As Princess Luthien's Sentinel Knight, you have sworn to be her protector and loyal friend. But now, with her lover trapped in darkness and your king's decision to keep Luthien caged in her own home. You are left in a difficult position in choosing between following your king's orders or allowing your charge to escape and rescue her lover from the darkness.
(Author's note: Started with my obsessions with knights, and then an idea of how tragic and depressing it would be for Luthien's Sentinel Knight)
Warnings: angst, mentions of Sentinel's life, the whole Silmarillion quest, Thingol not being a good dad, reader being hella confused and conflicted about what to do, mentions of possible banishment, and death by grief.
-----------------------------------------
Since the beginning of your existence, when you answered Melian’s summons to become a guardian of her family and people, you have never struggled to follow your given purpose.
As a Sentinel Knight, your duty is to protect your charge—a responsibility you and your brethren willingly accepted, for it gave you purpose and allowed you to take physical form.
The Firstborn children of Ilúvatar once regarded you with apprehension. Though you take forms that resemble them, your imposing armor and lack of understanding of basic emotions make you seem distant. They did admire your loyalty and found reassurance in the protection you and your brethren provided.
After some time, you noticed how they often looked at you with pity. You have even overheard whispers about how the life of a Sentinel is a cruel one.
Perhaps it was. You give your life for your charge without a second thought, never considering your own well-being. You do not hesitate to put yourself in danger. Yet, though bound by duty, you and your brethren are not incapable of learning to understand basic emotions.
You have come to know anger, sadness, and confusion—emotions you have witnessed countless times and even experienced yourself. However, one emotion remains foreign to you: love.
It was something you had observed in many different forms. You had seen families, couples, and friends sharing what was described as love. You had listened to countless interpretations of it and even formed your own understanding of it. Yet, it remained an enigma to you.
Even your brethren spoke of it in vague terms and claimed that to truly understand love, you had to experience it firsthand. You never found the time to dwell on it and eventually came to believe that perhaps it was something you did not need to know. You had a purpose, and that was all that mattered.
Until you became Princess Lúthien’s Sentinel.
You first met her when she was a child. Fascinated by you and the other Sentinels, she was eager to befriend you. You swore your loyalty and duty to her and realized too late how handful your charge was to be.
As her personal Sentinel, you were bound to follow her orders—so long as they did not compromise her safety or well-being. However, her energy and playfulness left you often chasing her around through the woods when playing hide and seek. Or when you have to save her from getting hurt in close-call accidents. She introduced you to new emotions: exhaustion, mild annoyance, and, on occasion, a hint of impatience.
Looking after her was no easy task. At times, you even began to doubt your ability to protect her, as she seemed to seek out danger on purpose.
However, you then became used to her quirks and rather outgoing personality.
She found great comfort in you as her declared friend, even though your duty was to stand guard over her, not to take on such a casual caretaker role.
It made you feel a strange warmth in your chest. It slowly dawned on you that you could not imagine her as anything else because everything she was now was what made her… her.
And eventually… you came to understand that you loved her. She was your princess, but she had made it clear she wanted to be someone you considered a friend—and she had succeeded. You loved her for who she was and valued her as a friend, someone you could turn to for guidance when the complexities of the world confused you.
Love, in all its forms, was vast and perplexing. You were still baffled by its many meanings. But out of love for your charge, you made yourself a promise to always be there to guard her safety and beautiful her heart. Because her happiness also became yours.
But things became difficult when she grew up into an adult and took a mortal man as her lover. Thingol did not take the news of his daughter courting a mortal man well and bestowed a challenge on the man – to retrieve a prized jewel from Morgoth’s crown in order to marry Luthien. Any kind of person would have considered that challenge impossible, but Beren, Luthien’s lover, was not deterred. He accepted the challenge, even calling it a small prize, before departing Doriath.
It left Luthien fearful and anxious for her lover’s sake. It made you feel helpless and confused. You did not know how to ease her troubles and you felt confused as to why the mortal man would accept such a challenge.
You had heard your share of tales about the secondborns and the things how unlike they were compared to elves. Also, they did not exist in Arda for eternity like the elves did. You did not know if it was arrogance or foolish courage, taking something so valuable from the fallen Vala’s crown was not something that could be accomplished without great loss. You doubt even you and your brethren could fulfill such a task though your nature would have made you try.
You tried your best to ease Luthien’s emotional turmoil but the separation had already left her feeling distant with her family. You understood your king’s wish to protect his daughter, a mortal man who will pass away in the blink of an eye might not be the best partner for an elf. However, you did understand Luthien's anger towards her father. You have heard parents finding out their child's newfound love was something to be celebrated, but Thingol had done the opposite and given a challenge that will either scare them away or lead them to certain death.
A few months passed before Lúthien revealed that she could sense Beren imprisoned in darkness, his life hanging by a thread. She shared this knowledge with her parents and expressed her desire to save him.
A small part of you hoped Thingol would see reason—that he might send you and an escort to aid her in rescuing Beren. You were more than capable of protecting her. You yourself did not have a strong opinion about the mortal man, but he was the only one who could dispel Luthien’s troubles, so you were willing to aid him. But instead, Thingol refused and ordered Lúthien to be confined in a treehouse to prevent her from leaving.
You were left helpless. Your charge had been confined, and you were ordered to stay on the ground to secure the perimeter of the treehouse – away from her reach.
Confusion weighed heavily on you—why had your king made this decision? But more than that, you felt a pang of distress as you watched Lúthien suffer, tormented by this betrayal of trust.
You had been taught that love was meant to be cherishing and nurturing. You had seen the love your king and queen held for their daughter. In your understanding, love should never be something that brings pain and torment.
But now… your king had all but condemned her lover to die and confined her in what could only be described as a cage. Your queen, despite her great wisdom, remained silent. Lúthien’s once-loyal friend had exposed her courtship, setting this chain of events into motion. Her own people obeyed the orders given, regardless of the pain it caused her.
And with her imprisoned, Beren could die—alone and without aid.
All of it was causing her nothing but grief and sorrow.
This was not how love is supposed to be… right?
Thingol had you report to him regarding Lúthien. You shared how the separation and confinement were deeply affecting her, even asking if this truly was what was best for her.
He replied that even if he had allowed her to continue her courtship, she would have suffered the same grief for a man who wouldn’t live to see the beginning of their marriage—had he allowed them to marry at all.
He believed her love for Beren was temporary, and that with time, she would come to understand this and eventually let it go.
Then, he issued an order: you were to ensure that Lúthien did not leave Doriath, even if she attempted to escape.
His answer left you conflicted. From everything you had seen, the love of an Eldar was never temporary. And in your experience, Lúthien was someone who loved with all her heart—no one in her life had ever been temporary.
This separation was slowly eating away at her spirit. It was something only Beren could heal.
You were bound to follow your king’s orders when necessary, but his actions had only caused her grief. If you followed his orders, would you simply add to that grief?
This time, you followed your orders reluctantly. Now, you waited at the edge of the wood, where you knew Lúthien would come. Your clever princess had grown her hair long enough to fashion a rope to escape her cage and had woven a cloak that would enchant her guards into sleep.
Since you were no ordinary elf, her enchantment would have no effect on you.
However, you were conflicted by this order. Was this truly the right choice for her?
Lúthien soon appeared, passing the tree and coming into view.
"Lúthien," you said softly, startling her.
"Oh, (Name). It's you. I’m relieved to finally see you again," she smiled, her expression filled with relief.
You looked at her, your gaze hardening.
“Princess, your father has given me a direct order to stop you if you attempt to escape,” you said, your tone low—tinged with shame.
“(Name)... I can’t go back,” she said, her voice filled with urgency. “Beren needs me. He’s alone, at the mercy of the darkness. If I don’t help him… he might die. I can already sense the death surrounding him,” she explained.
You lowered your gaze, your eyes heavy with conflict as you stared at the grass.
“Come with me, (Name). As my Sentinel Knight, you are bound to follow my orders and keep me safe from harm,” she said, her voice pleading.
“I know,” you replied softly. “But I am also bound to follow your father’s orders… and his command is to stop you from leaving.”
“(Name), please…” Lúthien said, grasping your armored hands, her eyes pleading with you. “Don’t turn on me like everyone else.”
Her words struck deep, making your heart feel heavy at the thought of betraying her.
“Beren is a good man—one of the kindest, gentlest, and with the most loving heart I’ve ever seen. You’ve seen him yourself. You wouldn’t have allowed me to court him otherwise,” she said, her voice steady but filled with emotion.
You didn’t know what to say.
It was true.
You had watched her love for the man grow, even though she sometimes asked for space, your duty required you to stand at a distance. You had seen her meet Beren for the first time—how he appeared, rough and unkempt, yet he did not gaze at her and see her beauty alone. His first treatment of her was what made you believe he wasn’t dangerous.
You watched their love flourish, something you found strange—love between lovers was something you hardly understood. Yet, despite Beren’s rather foolish decision to accept the challenge, you saw that he genuinely loved her.
That was why Thingol had you remain at a distance from her— since she asked, you had willingly kept their affair a secret from him.
"I beg of you, my friend. If you force me to stay, Beren will die. If he dies, I fear I will have no reason to continue living," she said, her voice breaking with emotion.
You gripped your wrist at the thought. Despite the Elves' incredible resilience, they were fragile when it came to matters of love. They could die from profound grief, a sorrow that could extend beyond their very souls. The most common cause of this was the death of their lovers.
The idea of Lúthien dying from grief was something you couldn’t bear. Yet, by defying your orders, you would be putting her at risk by allowing her to leave the safety of the girdle. However, If you followed your king's commands, Lúthien might suffer a death from grief—a fate you couldn’t fight against—failing your duty to keep her safe and ensure her well-being.
Is this what love was?
You had heard of the stories of Sentinels having known love for their charges, only to be consumed by maddening grief or hatred if they failed to protect them. They either fell in battle through hatred or guarded their charge’s graves until their bodies were no more in grief. The most prominent tale was of the Sentinels of the former King Denethor, who, even to this day, still guard his grave.
If you fail Luthien, you might face a similar fate.
The outside world was dangerous and would put your charge at risk, and your king would certainly have you banished if you disobeyed his orders. But if you follow his orders and Beren dies, Luthien might die with a grieving heart. Both choices could bring death to her.
What should you do?
You tried to think of something, anything, but nothing came to mind. There was no clear path forward. However, one truth became clear: A death by grief was something you could not prevent. But you could stop the death brought on by those who would wish harm upon your charge.
And there was only one path that could give you that chance.
"Fine..." you said, catching her attention.
Luthien looked at you, her expression filled with anticipation.
"I have my orders," you continued, "but my duty to protect you and ensure your well-being is my primary responsibility. If you believe that Beren's death will compromise your well-being, then I have no choice but to follow your lead."
Relief washed over Luthien's eyes, and for the first time since Beren’s departure, she smiled.
"Thank you, my friend," she said, her voice soft but filled with gratitude.
"I hope you know what you're doing," you said, a hint of concern in your voice. "I’ll most likely be banished for disobeying your father’s orders."
"However, with me by your side, I can ensure your safety in the outside world," you continued, your resolve firm.
"Now, come. We better leave now. It will not be long before someone will notice our absence," you urged, your tone decisive.
Together, you stepped beyond the safety of the girdle and the forests of Doriath.
Taking your first step beyond the safety of your home left you feeling nervous, even fearful. You were doing what a Sentinel should never do—breaking your oath to your king. But Luthien’s well-being and safety had become your priority the moment you swore your loyalty to her. You would rather see her live a life with someone she had chosen than watch her die from grief, heartbreak, and loss.
If banishment was the price you have to pay for defying your orders, so be it. For her, you would face any consequence, as long as it meant she would live and her pain would be no more.
"Luthien?" You looked down shyly. "Do you really want to get married? I fear I'm not pretty enough for you."
Luthien's face softened and she cupped your face. "Oh, but yes. Of course." She gently leaned her forehead against yours. "You are more beautiful than the sun that rises every morning and the flowers that bloom in the meadows. You are more beautiful than anyone I have ever seen. And if anyone says otherwise, then they are lying."

Synopsis: You and Luthien find yourself gossiping like lovesick teenagers about love and crushes.
Fireflies glowing in their abundance, radiant as ever and lovely with their fluorescent green, encircled the small paddock laughter reverberated throughout. The moon's soft glow in the background sprouted its illumination and enhanced the beauty all around. The twilight glow reflected off all surfaces and seemed to inveigle you and a particular inky-haired maiden in a hearty conversation. The moonlight, known for its spellbinding and confessing abilities, ensnared you both to reveal your heart. Its silvery whips danced and curled around your bodies, merrily gallivanting and encouraging more affection from your young souls to be expressive for tenderness.
The soft grass tickled your bare feet, yet you ignored it once you retreated to lying on the silvery blades. Dew soaked your clothes like the soft drizzle from the heavens, but you were unbothered. A milky hand shot out before your face holding a wine-coloured bottle of miruvórё. You didn’t know how much more you had in you to digest another round of wine, but to your right, the princess appeared to be up for an unspoken challenge.
“Tell me, Lu,” you whispered while handling the bottle from her, “are you planning on intentionally intoxicating me?” You were reluctant to heave your body upright, the ground was beyond welcoming for a pleasant slumber under the starlight. A chance to be one with Elbereth Githoniel and all her creations, though most of the time, you felt as if she walked the earth in the vessel of your dear friend. Too many times you have caught yourself lost in gazes at her radiant beauty reflecting the heavens in her face.
A sweet tinkering was her laughter beside you at your assumption. Perhaps it was a flock of birds defying their natural order to sing at night instead of her laughter. Nonetheless, she sounded charming. “You make me sound irresponsible!” she gasped and fell silent, mind pondering how to break her possibly… wild adventures. She watched as you poured the miruvórё into a chalice and took a sip before turning to gaze into her eyes. Your swift action caught her off guard. She wasn’t expecting you to give her your sudden attention.
Cocking your head to the side, your hair cascaded around your face, allowing the star and moonlight to enhance your aura. Your eyes filled with curiosity and confusion at her slightly bewildered state. It wasn’t customary for the princess to experience any volume of worry when everything was done for her, and her safety was ensured. Spending her days dancing and singing in the glades while dragging Daeron as a musical companion along was all she had ever done. Nothing could fill her heart with the black abyss as the world outside raided and plundered. All her innocent daydreaming and wonder for the world beyond were shared with you.
“What is it now? Is it your father acting up?” you suggested. Had you not, she would host the imaginary conversation in her head, believing that it was conducted in reality. Speaking up against others wasn’t a necessary line of action.
Jerking her head at a break of thought, she blushed and then stammered, “I-I…Not exactly, but in a way—I have fallen in love with a man and wish to learn how to process this…emotion. How do I swoon him?”
“A man?! You…You mean an ellon?” you questioned fearfully of her approach. But great was your fear and right you were to experience the dreadful curl of goosebumps crawling up your spine. The shake of her head and the glitter in her innocent eyes had your stomach dropping into a gorge. Were her eyes deceiving her when they were laid upon his figure? But how could one mistake the appearance of an elf for a man?
“No, it is a man, a mortal man. His name is Beren. He saw me dancing in the pastures and called out to me…Tinúviel he called me,” she awed, starstruck by the experience of love of first sight and the magnificent wonders it did to her heart and fёa. Scooting closer and on her knees, she leaned in and asked with eagerness swimming in her beady eyes, “What’s it like being in love? How do you know?”
“W-Why would you ask me that—I mean, how would I know?”
Frowning was never a good expression. It did not suit her carefree and compassionate aura. There was excellent reason why something was considered foreign; sometimes the unknown and inexperienced should remain as they were. Unwelcoming and unpleasant most of the nonentities were. She should have learned what expressions were suitable for her lovely face. Frowning was uncanny the longer it hovered like an ill-mannered cloud over your pinched brows, rumbling its grey shadow and preparing to grow darker.
“What do you mean, ‘how would I know’? Are you in love with the Marchwarden?” She clearly had no sense of filter or control over her tone of voice and left her words to echo. If your crush on the silver-hair guard was bound under lock and key, she broke and freed it. Perhaps, the best thing to do now is dig a hole and bury yourself…alive.
Experiencing embarrassment now that the cat was let out of the bag, all left to do was disappear. However, you had your princess eagerly gripping your arm and toying with your sleeves, impatiently waiting for your method of acting. First of all, how did she even know you were in love with the Marchwarden…ah? The sneaky practice of mindreading. Even you weren’t spared from it under the watchful eye of your friend.
Cutting her a bold look in hopes of throwing doubt into the mix, you murmured, “What gives the idea of me being in love with the Marchwarden? Don’t you know other ladies are in love with him as well?”
“Oh, I know you’re in love with him. I see it every time he walks in the room, you get flustered and shy,” she teased and gave you a slight shove. Her actions were considered overly dramatic as she flaunted how you displayed your interest in the guard. Swooning and throwing her hand over her forehead, pretending to faint to tease and get you to believe in your doting. Indeed, this was the miruvórё doings and not her normal behaviour.
Rolling your eyes the longer you watched her dramatically lively performance, it was tiring being teased for the joke of your doting. But her situation was far more severe than yours. Everything about the idea was paranormal, but love was the stabilising interest in her fascination with this…mortal man. “Alright, alright! Maybe I do have a little interest in him…he’s cute.”
“I knew it! I knew it! I knew it!” she giggled, jumping to her feet. “But you have to tell me, what’s it like being in love? How do you feel?”
She hadn’t known you and the Marchwarden were already engaging in rendezvouses. Meeting at ungodly hours just to have small talk or see him running and swinging throughout the forest and showing off his skills just for you. There were nights he would stop by and personally deliver a bouquet of moonflowers accompanied by a soliloquy about your beauty. Ay, he was a charismatic fellow, full of honey, too rich and thick for anyone to devour. Everything about Beleg was saccharine, from his walk to his smile, voice, and short presence. It never failed to make your heart skip a beat and your skin flush with heat.
Humming and twisting your lips the longer you precisely rearranged your thoughts articulately to prevent any initiation of further assumptions, you replied heartily, “…I feel giddy and excited like I might explode from all the overwhelming feelings…in a good way. There’s this yearning in your heart to constantly be with them—around them—all the time.”
Her face contorted into wonder the more she listened to you, understanding that her heart felt the same as yours. It wasn’t simply infatuation, but the start of something new and everlasting between them both. The love between them that would forever be written in the heavens and among the stars; one that would transcend throughout time. Skipping to your side once more, she knelt and placed a hand on your shoulder. “Do you ever feel a nauseous sensation in your stomach when you’re with him?”
“Uh-huh, butterflies. They swarm by the thousands. Sometimes you also feel like you can soar above the clouds.”
“I do! One time, he held my hand and…and…”
“…there was warmth and comfort. Makes you never want to leave.”
You felt a swell of giggles rising in your throat and a rush of tiny prickles to your skin. The goosebumps were enough, but as your emotions approached the silver-haired guard, your body acted. The freckles on your face appeared vividly under the tinted rose-coloured blush, giving the appearance of stars against your skin. A feature Beleg once pointed out was a beautiful and rare sighting, enhancing your etherealness.
“I never thought love would make me this…foolish with wings,” she cooed and twirled a strand of her inky hair between her nibble fingers.
Glancing at her lovestruck and slightly drunken blushed face, you chuckled at how loopy she appeared. “Maybe it’s all the wine you consumed earlier making you feel like this. You know you are a terrible drinker Lu.”
“Says the person who still can’t confess their love for the Marchwarden.” Ouch! That was rude…but true.
Lying shoulder-to-shoulder and talking to the moon, Isil could see the flustered state love placed two younger elves in. The beauty of experiencing a magnificent emotion; to fall irrevocably and unconditionally into an ocean of undying passion. Never drown or struggle but bask in the wonder and splendour of a world where tranquillity and felicity were all you knew.
Luthien honestly could care less about your mortality status or gender, she saw you, she decided she wanted you as hers, and then done deal. Good luck changing her mind Thingol.
Luthien took the first steps to befriend you, since most likely you would have avoided talking to her due to her status, intimidating parents and her being an elf.
She just radiates intelligence, grace and noble spirt in the way she operates no matter what she is doing. Yet she does this while still being approachable and playful. The best way I can explain it is as if she was a towering, magnificent, roaring waterfall, with a crystal clear calm water basin at the bottom. She is in part intimating, and angelic while at the same time inviting, easy to trust and calming.
Speaking of being towering, she is quite tall. I mean her father is the tallest elf to ever live and her mother is basically a goddess. If I had to give her a height I would say somewhere between 6 ft 5 inches and 7 ft. (between 195 cm and 213.36 cm)
Luthien has no shame in teasing you about your height, even if you are tall for a human women. She also gains great joy in seeing the way her dresses hem drag way behind you whenever you barrow a dress before it gets tailored for you: she finds it adorable.
Speaking of dresses, Luthien makes it a point you have the most high quality wardrobe, living, food ect.. She understands you have little time in this world, so she wants to ensure that little time is the best possible.
Luthien also will encourage you both to go travel around middle earth and explore by horseback. She would even try to sneak away with just you, her and a horse. No guards like her father would prefer.
Thingol does not approve of this relationship at all. He has tried to scare you away on multiple occasions, and normally fails due to the interfering of his wife Melian and daughter.
Melian honestly loves you, and tries to learn much of humans for you. She could never dislike the person who brings her only child so much joy.
Luthien does not care much for the end goal of marriage, though she is not opposed to it if you wish to be wed. The way she sees it is, there is no reason to since she believes her love to you is already apparent.
Luthien can be a bit overprotective at times (She gets it from Thingol), She once punched a drunken man who grabbed you, knocking him out cold and crooking his nose.
Luthien will also do her best to protect you from the inevitable rumors and whispered insults about you and your relationship with her. She compliments you everyday, and truly believes your beauty is greater than hers in soul and body.
I believe she is someone who finds the most beauty in imperfect things, as someone who is technically perfect she fawns over the quirks and rough edges most humans have.
So you have stretch marks? Frizzy hair? scars? Uneven boobs? She loves them all, and considers them beatifully human.
She loves to dance with you, wether it be slow and romantic or fast paced frolicking at a festival. She will always light up and smile radiantly when you dance.
She honestly has no care for social norms and will kiss you, touch you, or flirt whenever she feels.
Her kisses are passionate, slow and all consuming. She is not really one for half assing a small peck. So if you kiss her, be warned it will probably turn into a full make out if time allows it.
She embraces your aging and upcoming death openly. Having multiple in depth, heartfelt talks about it with you and both your feelings on the matter of your future parting.
Luthien is incredibly protective over you, the moment she met you, she knew that she would worship the ground you walked upon, and unlike most yandere’s, she doesn’t succumb to her yandere tendencies immediately.
She can feel herself slowly becomes more delusional towards you the longer she stays in your company.
When it comes to why she’s so protective, she’s already lost one lover and she doesn’t want to lose you too. The very thought of you being ripped from her grasp terrifies her, and Luthien promised herself that she would ensure that you will never be in danger, not even for a single moment.
Luthien will not hesitate to manipulate you into staying with her. She knows of the cruelty and danger of the world, and she doesn’t want you to be tainted by it, and if it means betraying her honesty to keep you with her, then she would do it without a second thought.
Luthien melts at any affectionate touch that you give her. She cannot bear being away from you, even if it's just for a few hours. You often remind her that “A hundred years is nothing in the life of an elf, so why can’t you go to the market alone for a few hours?”
But when she gives you those sweet puppy eyes of hers, you can’t help but give in to her request, and let her come with you.
If you are apart for more than a few hours, Luthien will immediately begin to fret, and as well as that, she is already longing for your sweet smile and gentle touches.
There were times at the beginning of your relationship where you were unnerved by Luthien’s yandere tendencies, and you would tense up whenever she touched you because of it. Most of the time, Luthien was swimming too deep in her own delusion to notice your discomfort, but there was the odd time when she would notice, and your heart would break as Luthien’s eyes glazed over with unshed tears and her lip would tremble. You would quickly pull her into your embrace whenever that happened, desperate to console her.
Luthien does her best to keep you away from everyone else, besides her. She may even try and keep you from going to see them or if she becomes incredibly desperate, consult a potions master which would prepare a brew to rid you of any memories of your family.
Luthien is also incredibly possessive of you, as well as being protective. Luthien is incredibly powerful herself, but alongside that, she has a great influence on the elvish race, what with her title and her blinding beauty, no one would dare challenge her. But if someone did try to get between you, she would not be above taking up a dagger in the late hour of the night, following her prey on their way home from the market and as soon as they turn into a deserted street, she lunges forward like a lion and drags her dagger along their throat, making sure to dig it in painfully, as to send a message to anyone else that would dare to try and come between you two.
Luthien will use her beautiful voice to hypnotise you into becoming more compliant and believe me when I say, being well behaved comes with great rewards.
If you are good, she will take you out for a picnic, deep in the forest, right by a stream. You go out in the early morning, Luthien carrying the heavy picnic basket with ease, and when you finally arrive at your picnic spot, you will both share stories of your lives, and despite them being so vastly different, you can still find common ground in them.
After you’ve finished your meal, you both decided to dip your feet in the stream and the only things that can be heard is the sound of gushing water, tweeting birds and the sweet melodic voice of your lover sitting beside you. Before you go home, Luthien is determined to dance with you and even though began you to dance in the afternoon, you both stayed there till the late evening, laughing, singing, and dancing.
(This dwells into Thingol's and Luthien's disappearance mystery, so it's a bit different from others, but I finally thought this deserved some attention. I apologize if my writing has downgraded a little. I had a rough holiday. )
Warnings: Some mentions of depression, anger issues, family drama, Thingol going missing, Luthien being energetic, mentions of drugs, Melkor being creepy, spooky mythical things, and an unsolved horse mystery.
--------------------------------------------
- You wished you knew how it happened. First, Thingol, your beloved horse, goes missing for a whole year, and then you find him and end up caring for the unordinary foal he had sired.
- You are an experienced cross-country jumper and a teacher at the Doriath’s wood stable, but things began to go south with your personal problems and when your dear horse went missing in the middle of the night.
- You had Thingol as long as you could remember. He was a sweet giant, and him suddenly going missing did not do well for your already deteriorating mental health.
- You remember going through the woods thousands of times looking for him, crying and calling out to him in desperate hope.
- You do not even know how he went missing. He was in his pasture when you were finishing things up at the stable, and when you were about to fetch him inside, he was nowhere to be found.
- He liked to stay near the stable, so he wasn't the runaway type, but there was also no damage done to any of the fences, so you do not know how he even got out of the pasture. It was like he simply vanished into the thin air.
- You suspected horse poachers or Melkor since his riding school was near and he was known to trick riders into giving up their horses, but it wasn't him since he allowed you to look around his stable and Thingol wasn't there. So, all you could do was to set missing posters, but even they proved useless.
- For a whole year, Thingol was missing. You gradually accepted that he was dead.
- You were a wreck to say the least. You were struggling with your depression and had grown a shorter temper as you would easily snap toward anyone if they annoyed you or made a mistake. It grew so bad that Yavanna forced you to attend therapy and take a break from the stable, which helped you very little.
- Till... the day when Thingol went missing arrived. You were loitering at the fence of the pasture, staring and imagining Thingol standing there, eating grass and trotting over to greet you. The moon was full in the sky, and you could hear the nightingales singing in the forest.
- You saw something shining in the forest. It was subtle and quick, so you didn't get a good look at it but saw it. It looked like some kind of light.
- You jerked up when you heard a distant neigh of a horse and saw something moving in the forest.
- Despite the better judgment of never going alone in the woods in the middle of the night, you grabbed a flashlight and went to investigate.
- You ventured through the woods, watching as the nightingales and other birds were acting weirdly, and flowers were blooming despite it being night. Something spooky was going on, but despite the goosebumps and the creepy feeling of being watched, you continued when you heard a whine.
- After minutes of walking and searching, you came across your gray stallion.
- "Thingol!" you exclaimed as you approached him.
- Your gentle giant stood patiently as you came to him, recognizing you and allowing you to stroke his mane as you took in his state. His mane was mantled, and his hooves were slightly overgrown. His ribs were showing, so it was obvious he had not eaten well in a long time.
- "Where have you been, boy? I thought you were dead," you questioned as he brushed his head against you.
- You felt happy to see him, but then shock settled in when you saw something move in a pile of leaves.
- It was a newborn foal with a coat darker than night. On its forehead, you saw a strange mark that resembled a flower and a star. It was unlike any other forehead markings you had seen.
-The foal loudly whined, and the birds went crazy above you.
- You didn't know what to think. You first looked around for a mare, but when you saw nothing. You took out your phone and called for help since the foal was shivering.
- With the help of a friend, you brought Thingol back to the stable and carried the foal in a large basket.
- You had Thingol fed and placed the foal in the warmest box possible. You dried the foal with a towel and made some warm bottled milk.
- The nightingales and some of the birds had strangely followed you inside the stable, watching and chirping as you fed the milk to the foal, which she devoured in a minute while struggling to stand with her shaking legs.
- The foal was a lovely little filly. Thingol was cautiously observing you and the foal, so you didn't need to guess if it was his. The real question was. Who was the mare?
- After the night, you had a vet check on Thingol and the filly. Doriath didn't currently have a mare to act as a substitute, so you had to care for the filly and make sure she got the food she needed.
- You had some people look around the forest in hopes you might find the mare, but it proved pointless as there weren't even hoof prints to follow. It was like the mare just came and disappeared when you found Thingol.
- You decided to leave it be and focus on getting Thingol back in shape. You got his hooves trimmed and shoes redone as they had fallen off during his time of wandering. His mane was ruined beyond saving, so you had it cut short and let it grow healthy again. You also focused on helping him regain some weight while wondering what to do with his new foal.
- Oddly, you felt bonded with the little filly. Despite being born two days ago, she was already running around and whining playfully to get either you or Thingol to play with her. And when she was near, you felt peaceful and even filled with joy. It was like the anger that had crippled you from within for the past year had vanished entirely.
- As your heart was filled with love for her, you decided to name her Luthien for her beauty and that it was a full moon when she was born in the forest.
- Caring for Luthien proved to be a challenge. She was a dear and ate her food when it was time to feed and never wandered too far from you or her father. However, she had a great love for playing games. It would take hours before she would get tired and odd things started happening around her.
- The nightingales had stayed around and even played with the energetic filly. It was like they were there to watch her and you. It was a bit unsettling when they would look at you from the trees, but you somehow managed to ignore it. However, the strangest thing was the trail of flowers Luthien would leave behind in the pastures.
- She would run happily in a straight line, and flowers would grow behind her, attracting butterflies and birds. You first believed that you had accidentally taken horse medicine and started hallucinating, but when you saw the flowers continuously growing behind Luthien and other people took notice. You finally believed you did not accidentally take horse drugs.
- It was now clear that Luthien had some kind of magical powers. You have never been a believer in magical things till now.
- "Thingol... I need to ask," you said as you two watched Luthien run around, growing flowers and plants wherever she went. "Was the woman you banged some kind of fairy?" you glanced at him, and your stallion only looked away.
- You felt worried if letting Thingol be in the same pasture as Luthien would be a good idea, but your concerns vanished when you saw how gentle he was with her. He proved to be a good help, keeping Luthien in sight and calling her back whenever she wandered too far.
- Luthien grew beautifully and was as playful as ever. However, her looks and strange abilities began to attract attention.
- You had been successful in convincing Yavanna and others to keep her abilities a secret, but her looks gained the attention of those who were willing to buy her. You turned them away as you had no intention to sell her, but when Melkor came to you. Things began to grow even more creepy.
- Luckily, Luthien seemed to know how to control her abilities, so she seemed like an ordinary horse. However, Melkor appeared like he knew something about her. He tried to be a smooth talker. He congratulated you on finding Thingol before trying to pique your interest in selling Luthien.
- You were angry as you didn't trust him in the slightest, and despite you wanting to punch him in the face, you continued refusing his offers till he finally left. He did tell you something unnerving, which made you fear for Luthien's safety.
- Yavanna assured you that Melkor wouldn't dare to do anything despite her assurance. You considered training Luthien some basics, or some enoughts that would help her stay away from Melkor.
- Luthien was incredibly smart for a horse, and she seemed to know whenever your mood was down, so she did things to cheer you up, like bringing you a flower she either grew or found or nibbling your hair to make you giggle.
- You couldn't lie that being with her helped you cheer up, and the anger and anxiety vanished in her presence. As time passed, you felt more assured that she would be fine.
- The mystery of her mare mother was never solved. Some people at the stable tried to come up with theories about the mare, but none really came near to a convincing truth. One particular theory about Luthien's mother being some kind of mythical horse became the number one theory.
- You called it bullshit, but since Luthien had strange powers, you couldn't help but lean into the theory.
- Well... your doubts about the theory vanished one night when you were finishing things up at the stable. You had Thingol and Luthien fed and prepared to leave home.
- You closed the doors and then saw the nightingales you had seen around the stable act weirdly again and fly toward the forest, where you saw the light and something standing at the edge of the forest.
- It was a horse, and it was glowing with strange light. The nightingales and the birds flocked around it, singing and chirping. You could see vines and flowers growing out of its mane. Its eyes were glowing green, staring at you.
- You were frozen in your place as you were both enthralled by its beauty and frightened as the creature looked like a ghost. It was standing at the edge of the forest, but you could see the same mark on its forehead. It felt like hours as you couldn’t look away from the beautiful being, but then the horse disappeared, leaving nothing behind as all turned to normal.
- You found yourself able to move again and you pondered explanations on what you just saw and the possibility if the horse was…Luthien’s mare mother. They both bear the same forehead marking.
- The night being late and being tired yourself, you decided to leave it be and go home to rest.
